I could definitely get this point. Our program is in a very tough spot right now and it is going to be a pretty tough challenge. But if he comes in and is part of a solid turnaround his stock for not just DC but HC will be through the roof. So then here’s the options:
1. Stick around at OSU be in a comfy spot at a top 5 program. Possibly get a DC position at a “better” school/situation next year then depending how it turns out be an HC candidate in 3+ years. If this doesn’t turn out he is at least still Co-DC at OSU.
2. Take the UT job. Become a DC in what is seen as a very tough situation. Be a part of a turnaround in a challenging situation and be a high-profile HC candidate in 3 years. If it doesn’t turn out maybe you return to OSU start running it back.
UT is a high risk high reward situation but if he/JH pull it out he will have Charlie Strong/Kirby Smart type demand on the HC market.
No the problem is all these people that talk about racism, equality, diversity are the ones that keep it going.it does not.
If hearing that a team with all black coordinators and women on the strength staff (which has been unheard of) makes you want to separate yourself from society then it’s clear, the media nor these coaches are the root of your problem.
I think you are correct, but I happen to believe and have heard that both Brown and Orlando were offered the job and turned it down.
So when you say timeframe is a positive sign, I have to disagree. I think it has taken so long because after the initial interview process we were turned down twice, then we did another round of interviews and are in the process of being turned down by a third candidate.
And I don't say this as a shot against Heupel. This job is what it is and the instability around the program is hampering his ability to form a staff.
Well the fact he hasn't turned us down is something because as soon as he does it will be leaked from Ohio State's side.
good postNo one should use the N-word. The color of your skin doesn't matter. And before someone drops the boomer line, consider that it's continued usage in rap is why white kids don't understand why it's wrong to use the word. It's a word born of hate. If you want it to be left in the past, everyone needs to leave it in the past. Hell, saying one group of people can use the term while one cannot goes against the very definition of equality, which is what we're supposedly seeking.
And ftr, I love rap, especially the old NWA stuff, so this isn't me picking on a genre I don't like. But kids emulate what they hear. Most put little to no thought into what they say. And Morgan whoever may not be a kid, but I guarantee he put little thought into his words, especially if he was drunk off his ass.
If you want a better society, everyone needs to participate. Demanding change from one side only will not effect change. That just builds more resentment.
We need Wash for his recruiting. I'm not sure the Gillespie guy could recruit near as well, though he is probably a better play callerI am still hopeful for Washington. I actually like him better than Brown and Orlando. Would go after Gillespie at Tulsa if this one falls through.
Actually, I'd try to money whip Alex Grinch at OU with a $2.5 million offer, and if nothing else cost them some money for all the players they've siphoned off from us.
I think White has to make this move for Washington but Gillespie is a legit football move. May be Arnette without the buildup.I am still hopeful for Washington. I actually like him better than Brown and Orlando. Would go after Gillespie at Tulsa if this one falls through.

At some point ya gotta think Washington or someone in his circle will look at it as Tennessee isn't making any promises about something that may or may not happen in the future, they are stepping up big time and saying "we want you to be our DC right now, and will make you one of the highest paid in the country to do it" it is the sure thing. The co-DC now and "maybe" a better program comes in the future is all speculation, cause the backlash of turning down a promotion AND big money is that other schools may avoid contacting you thinking "Well TN couldn't get him and they offered a hell of a lot more than we can..."
looks like Grinch may be in the running for the UCF HC jobI am still hopeful for Washington. I actually like him better than Brown and Orlando. Would go after Gillespie at Tulsa if this one falls through.
