What a joke. The vast majority of Aluminum imports comes from Canada and that is only because they have cheap power. China put almost every single aluminum smelter in the US out of business by flooding the market with cheap aluminum. I'm amazed that the UAE even has a smelter.

I think this is a shining example of how President Silver Alert, aka SlowJoe is on the wrong side of every issue. Let's review. Cancel the project: kills jobs. Also cancel the project: Screws the environment nutbags because now all that oil that would have been efficiently moved thru a pipe will now be going via rail and tanker truck. It is a complete lose/lose scenario.
