Skeeter was dead on about so much. He would jump in with a name no one was even talking about and the next day they would commit.
Yeah it was so obvious he was legit.... I couldn’t believe people attacked him when he got one wrong...... I mean with recruiting we have had players going to sign with us and completely lie to the coaches..... no way to be 100%.

Yeah, I’m fine with him bringing his staff for the reasons you mentioned. But two things give me pause:

1) It seems like he chased Lebby and Briles and neither wanted to come. So, by default, there are people he didn’t want to bring with him who he is now bringing.

2) none of these guys have a known track record of being elite recruiters. If the head coach isn’t good at it, you need a few hounds. Maybe Burns or Merritt evolve into it quickly.

Also I’m worried about not having anyone with Tennessee ties on the coaching staff. I think it really helps to have alums who will go the extra mile and also provide a bridge to the “Tennessee” way. This is Josh Heupel’s program now - I don’t mean to suggest otherwise. But there needs to be some guys there who can help him understand Tennessee and what the fanbase and former players want/expect.
That last paragraph makes me physically ill. Just f'n win.

We don’t need them on the staff.... we need to bring them on campus as much as possible..... have them standing on the sidelines during games..... sort of what Miami use to do...... they don’t have to be on staff to influence recruits/ players....we need to start having functions to try to rally all of our former vols around this school.

@Stepnstone24 coming in hot last night! I think we could be friends. Keep posting!
Lol thanks. I am just as frustrated as everyone else. Our fanbase has a tendency to be the best in the country or the worst. I just think we need to get behind these guys and support them. We may actually have something with this coach and AD.

I don’t think this is a Tennessee thing. Most new hires around the country bring on a couple of alums in the staff.

Clemson is like the poster child for this example. I think there are like 6 coaches who played there on staff.

After what people said about him the night of the hire, I doubt he ever comes back on. Its a shame really. He was right about the clean slate of all the coaches and he can't control who White hires nor all the coaches who gave White a quick no. I hope he comes back one day cause I really appreciate the info he gave.
Every one of the insiders were wrong on this one but we did go after some pretty big fish. They just weren't interested in joining this dysfunctional group. I'm sure the looming sanctions had a lot to do with it but, lets face it, this place has been a sh^t show for a very long time.

If you are successful then it is a great thing..... I hate seeing all the animosity towards former vols when we fail.

Yep but it’s not just Alabama and Georgia that gets away with it.... auburn straight up paid cam newton 250,000 and fought them and won.... from what I have seen.... you comply and get hammered.... fight and punishment is weaker.... NCAA doesn’t like conflict.

Summary disposition process was just recently introduced. It's why we heard nothing about Mullen's 1 year show cause until it was already done. Will see over time if it is truly better or not. I agree that if it does not work for the school like it should, it would be better to fight them in a death match.

Will Smart/UGA get hammered over Mims and others by fighting, or will they go summary disposition, or are they in the club that gets ignored? If an investigation is not opened after all our sins are exposed we will have our answer.

Just noticed that UCF was #5 in the country for turnover margin last year. And #1 in fumble recoveries.
They were very boom bust. Probably too aggressive at times. Especially after kicking 3 or 4 front 7 starters off the team early in the season. They were very good at getting tackles for loss and turnovers but gave up a lot of plays being too aggressive.

I am not sure about Briles but I don't think its about Lebby not wanting to come here as much as it is that he is up for the HC at UCF. I'm not worried about the O side of the ball.

I have some concern as to if we can attract a top defensive guy with as fast as Heupel wants to go offensively. It sets up most DC for failure and and scrutinizing when people look more at stats/pts instead of flow of game. That many possession and time on field your going to give up yds/pts but still will have fans calling for your head and saying you suck

We will have to get use to some of that.... the goal of his team is to create turnovers.... negative plays and cause field goals in the red zone.... we will give up a lot of yards in between.
