Talk about hiring the one guy that TN fans despise. I can’t believe DW thinks that highly of this guy.

I’m just....give me Chadwell over Franklin. Having Franklin as the face of Tennessee Football just rubs me the wrong way and will be hard to get excited about.

Just want to clarify that the end of my post is as important as the beginning. I believe that we’ve made one offer only, and that is JF. My friend is noticeably worried that we’re on day three after agreeing to basic terms. I think it better wrap up today. I can’t imagine that it could drag on now that it’s in the news. It’s got to become public or it’ll die.

The Fact that he hasn't publicly released a statement about staying at PSU gives me hope

Not a huge Franklin fan, I think he’s grown since his time at Vandy as a man though.

On the field, he’s a big fish hire that would definitely draw national media attention. A decade of coaching at Vandy & rebuilding a handicapped Penn State and he’s at 66% winning percentage for his career.

Worse season has been just 1 game below 500, only happened twice.

84-43, 6 seasons winning at least 9 games in the two toughest Power 5 conferences too.

If he is hired here, I hope he is the biggest jackass in the world

Franklin would be an instant credibility booster for this program nationally. I know many of you don't like him and the things that went on at Vandy, but this will be a seismic announcement if it happens. We would no longer be considered a joke of a program for the first time in years. Head coaches at major programs like Penn State simply don't leave to go to other P5 jobs while they are still successful.

Legitimately one of the best coaches in America. Would instantly be the 3rd best coach in the conference. He was vetted by Penn State and cleared. He would be a grand slam.

I also see reports someone close to the player say he told them to delete the video. I don't know - this is exactly like Schiano to me. A third hand source says Franklin saw something and did the wrong thing.

We were up in arms over it when it was Schiano - can't back off it now.

We absolutely can and likely will, if he is the choice.

The way he carried himself at vandy mostly. Talked sh*t to students/fans/support staffers while playing here. He also put out a rumor he would’ve turned down UT after we fired Dooley which is just a flat lie. He wanted the job then and apparently wants it to some degree now.

Very mixed feelings about it. What he is accused of is very heinous, but there has been no evidence, only statements from defendants' attorneys. We will never know the truth, but if there was something there, I have to believe that someone would have found it by now. Still, it's a hard pill for me to swallow.

I really don't care if a coach whips our ass-- that just means they are better than our team and it would be an upgrade. Doubt anyone would be upset if they hired Saban away from Bama-- he has whipped our ass a bunch.

It's the rape baggage for me. I just don't like him.
