Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

I'm convinced that the James Franklin & Tennessee talks are not dead. No big article saying 'Franklin turns down Tennessee' out yet like with the Fleck article. Just mentioned they were in deep talks and he said no - to some degree, but didn't completely slam the door shut.

He's going to keep listening, and DW has a Centurion card. I think he has to be the front-runner as of right now.

I've heard some rumors on a few assistants for Elliott, so I'll try to do this and fill in some gaps.

HC: Elliott
OC: I'd guess Chad Morris because he's available.
RB: Graham
WR: Tee or Justin Stepp
OL: Alex Atkins or Thomas Austin
QB: JP Losman

DC: Steele or Todd Bates
DL: Todd Bates
LB: Steele or Andrew Warwick
DB: Mike Reed or Charlie Harbison

Marion Hobby is also an option on the defensive side, and Joe Craddock on the offensive side. Craddock is the leading candidate at MTSU for their OC position.
Thats really not bad at all

Danny White can be a good AD and still not be able to convince a homerun type hire to come here, we have no idea what the sanctions are going to look like. Perception of this job is not what it used to be, that has nothing to do with him.
If he hires elliott, chadwell or any other experiment coach over kiffin or freeze, then he is a ****** athletic director. He isn't hiring the best coach available.

if you think for a minute that TE wasn't involved in that game then I don't know what to tell you
He was involved with the gameplan but he wasn’t able to call the game.

I’ve always heard that he’s special as a play caller because he’s so good at dialing plays up during the flow of the game. Very good instincts/intuition

He develops the RB, which is arguably Cle.son's best position. Would he have the talent maybe not, but could he get the talent. Elliott already has in roads with top guys across the nation, and almost certainly lands us Ty Simpson. Steele is also a good DC who has in roads with Elite talent all over the south as well. You go down a road where its Chadwell and I feel confident in saying he would have a hard time even getting kids to pick up the phone and listen. You think Walter Nolan knows who a Jamey Chadwell is?
It’s just my opinion that if you place him in a conference with the recruiting monsters of Saban, Smart, and Mullen, his ability to draw in and develop talent to a caliber anywhere near the level of Clemson or other top programs is extremely questionable. Granted I also believe it’s an improvement to where we are now. I just don’t think taking a chance on another Coordinator who’d be losing the big name coach above him would be a wise move. If we’re this far down our list, get someone (except Sonny D) with HC experience. The amount of unsuccessful Coordinators far outweighs the number of successes in terms of HCs.

One more thing..Tony Elliott is a better version of James Franklin before he got a HC gig..in every possible freaking way. Does anybody argue with that?
How can we possibly know that? That's my thing. TE might be the next Urban Meyer. But we have no way of knowing and it's a massive risk for where we are now. I'm willing to do that over Dykes or someone like that, but it's risky.

I remember people at GA speaking pretty badly of Pruitt and we all brushed it off and hoped it wasn't true. There were definitely red flags with Pruitt that ended up becoming true in the end.
All of his red flags at UGA were because he had higher expectations for UGA football than Richt had. Richt is a beta.
