Here is another thing with Elliott..... Clemson looked awful against Ohio St without him there, that lends a bit of credibility that he is a good coach. Also working with Clemson he has re cruiting ties to where TN recruits. Lastly he gives us a good shot at getting Simpson.
Yep...he's legit

Why do you say there's no shot? Do you think White would engage in a pointless exercise when he wants to move quickly? Also, Feldman was mentioned as one of the media people to listen to about the potential hire. Elliott may very well be our next coach.

He has no HC experience and if he wasn't the man for the UCF job I don't see how he is for the Tennessee job that has much larger stakes and is also likely to face NCAA issues. I just don't see how they hire someone with no experience navigating that.

There’s no way anyone can declare Elliott a better coach than Chadwell, but I would just about guarantee he’s got better connections in the coaching fraternity than Chadwell. FWIW

No question about that. But I'm honestly kinda burned out on trying to put together a "top-notch staff" because I don't care about assistants that much anymore. Time and time again we see that the top programs work because of the head coach. Especially in the modern era. It's a head coach league. Everything else falls into place once you've got one. Fulmer is probably one of the only guys to win a national championship and be highly successful primarily because of his assistants.

He is for sure not hiring either one of them IMO. I am convinced it will be somebody we don't want or expect, but it will turn out to be a solid hire...at least I hope.

We are still in a bad situation, I think the hire of White has kind of obscured that fact. He is a good AD with an extremely hard job right now.
Agreed.

Of all the forum members, I wish Hank was on the search team. Just so they could secretly remove all the names he suggests from the list.

We would be guaranteed a great hire.
Exactly. I can't imagine consciously advocating for Doug Marrone then dunking on people who aren't on board with Elliot

Another. Thing to consider......

How would y’all feel if auburn hired tony Elliot instead of Bryan Harsin?? I’m sure as hell glad they picked Harsin personally

I’d be more confident Elliot could slide into their situation and have success than ours.

I just don’t think Elliot is ready to move from maybe the most stable program in the nation to, well, dumpster fire.

No it doesn’t lol. There’s so much more that goes into being the head coach at a major power.

And you think UT is going to risk another unproven assistant HC after what we just went through? I'll go with what Boyd, and Plowman said, this school isn't a proving ground. And what Atlvol said we are hiring a sitting P5 coach.

None of those things preempt White from deciding he is the one. I'd say he has a chance if contact has happened.
