I hate myself for even indulging this fantasy, but Matt Campbell is 10x better a coach than Kirby Dumb.

Lane would be an emotional hire and very exciting for a bunch of intangible reasons, but Matt Campbell would be incredible. I want to believe it is possible.

I do, too! Killing Bass. I won't be able to sleep. I just never saw a way Kiffin would work even though he would excite the fans, VFLs and players. But I am started to see how this fits it all: everything AV, DW and Donde have said.

Look at the Juniors and Seniors we will have next year. It will be more than 2 years.

all the arguments being made FOR Dan Mullen in regards to his MSU tenure can be applied to Matt Campbell and ISU, w/out the weird quirkiness that comes with Mullen.

i've expressed my reservations about him already. he'd still be a home run hire if we could pull it off. so i'm in.

i don't think he would come here....but if he's at the top of the list, you make him strike you out. keep swinging.

then move on if ultimately it's a "no"......

i think Fickle fits a lot of what he described in the presser today too....there are others.

we'll see what happens. hoping turning the page on the past, and past ways, and the new leadership is enough to get the kind of guy(s) we need to listen.

We all would do well to embrace this thought:

There is more than one person who could come in and do well here. It’s not like there is ONE person, and if we don’t hire that person we have no chance. There are 20+ coaches out there who could do better than what we have done the last decade +.

It’s not a unreasonable view in my opinion. I read an article I read in the Athletic he other day pretty much stated that we should be a Top 25 program in football consistently. I mean 8-4 on off years...that should be the floor at the very least.

well we were that, better than that actually, for nearly 20 years...ish.

I don't believe that story about the leaders on the team asking for Lane. I think we have a lot of passionate fans that are trying to will a (glorious) hire into existence.

It’s going to take some time to install his culture and get buy-in, but even with the transfers our roster would have more recruiting stars on it next year than any team Campbell has ever coached.

Well let’s make a little bet here Sir. I guarantee you that whoever they back the Loomis(or Brinks) truck up to that individual Coaches us to Atleast a 6 win season in the first year.

we had work to do no matter defensively. for an offensive guy, Botch left offensive cupboard bare. For a defensive guy, Pruitt recruited badly on defen...i just dont think he was as great...sigh. we have some talent but got beat by Kentucky. We have work to do.

yeah. it is what it is, nothing we can do about it. will be up to the new coach on how to address via transfers or whatever. getting where we want won't happen overnight. and if it does, i'd almost be wary of that, moreso than some early struggles. you can look at coaches that started fast, and fade...and there are several...Butch, kinda...Kevin SUmlin, Chizik....Maclwain....Herman....anyway..you get the idea.
