I'm not suggesting these people will be candidates, but this was the pool UCF was considering in 2017 when they hired Heupel. Might give us an idea of what Danny White looks for.

Central Florida is moving on with its coaching search after discussions with former Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin didn't progress, a source told ESPN on Tuesday, confirming multiple reports.

The two sides had discussions Sunday but could not come to an agreement, as Sumlin weighs whether to pursue other jobs, including a potential vacancy at Oregon if Willie Taggart leaves for Florida State.

On Monday, UCF interviewed offensive coordinator Troy Walters, according to a source. Walters was named acting head coach after Scott Frost took the Nebraska job following Saturday's American Athletic Conference championship win over Memphis.

Other candidates being mentioned for the job include Clemson co-offensive coordinator Tony Elliott, Toledo coach Jason Candle, Troy coach Neal Brown and Michigan passing game coordinator Pep Hamilton.

Can we get any reactions from opposing boards? I want to eat their fears and drink their tears.View attachment 341702
USCjr board is a mix of knowing it's a home run and being salty because they wanted him.

GA seems to think it's a good hire, mixed with jokes about self declaring championships.

That's as far as I got. Started feeling nauseous, so I got out of there.

No on Kiffin please...sorry I can’t understand the people that get behind in or think it’s remotely a good idea.

If Tennessee hits a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs to win the World Series of HC hires I’m convinced that some of y’all would still complain.

Tennessee could literally walk out Meyer, Stoops, Day, etc and someone would find something to whine about. Smh.

Hiring an AD who seems to be universally respected in the industry may open up the pool of HC candidates who are willing to come here. They care about who their boss is going to be, and if White has such a great reputation that only helps our chances of landing a whale.
What it does do for sure is show coaches that we are serious about football. Hiring a non-Tennessee guys and an AD that has a rep for being coach friendly means we are serious.

It isn't fighting a divided house full of Tennessee Boys.

It also means we have unified leadership at the top. HUGE.

Some of you guys still think we’re going to give the keys to Kevin Steele??

I am flabbergasted

For whatever reason, hiring White makes me think of this scene. We now have a card to play, and I think you maximize the ever living s@#$ out of it.

I think you either call Kiffin and say "look at this contract, and pay attention to that buyout part. We will absolutely disappear your @$# outside Newport if you ever so much as entertain taking another job."

Or you go even bigger. Get Lincoln Riley's agent on the phone.

I believe AV. This sounds like we have FU money, or else ol' dude would have said "naw" and stayed in Orlando.
