Who was the rat?

Let's find out what the penalties are and move on. If they aren't too severe this won't be a program killer...in fact it may help us by getting rid of Pruitt and Fulmer. I like Fulmer and it's just tragic he has to go out this way. That part is sad on its own. The whole thing is unfortunate...but it's not like we were riding high on the waves of an SEC championship. We needed change. That's the one positive of this.

Thanks for all of the info.

I can’t believe these guys f’ed up enough that we’re gonna get hammered by the NCAA. Meanwhile LSU has coaches on FBI tapes talking about paying players and evidence of funneling money through a ****ING CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL and we take it on the chin.[/QUOTE]
As bad as it is,sometimes it's not a good idea to come completely clean in an honest way. In other words don't offer up info, then expect leniency. I don't know how Will Wade got away with it either. UT allowed the NCAA to virtually monitor these recent question and answer sessions of the coaches. At least UT is giving the impression that they are serious, honest, and want to get to the bottom of it quickly. The post above that you thanked would lead a person to believe these infractions were rampant and if that's the case Pruitt needs to be gone without anything, imo.

Look no further than the man that got to retire instead of being fired. Our last AD was fired for less and Phil was actually helping/advising Pruitt so I’m not convinced he didn’t know what was going to some degree but yet everyone around him gets fired except him.

Seems it was an inside job that went wrong. Something that was suppose to be a money saver on JP ended up being a program changer. Is there a Currie hold over in the AD?... if an asst AD under Fulmer takes a job soon that could provide a little smoke. I'm still on the side that JG had a hand in it based on timing and optics.

Could've been a player or some players sick of a rotten culture of cheating. What a position for a kid to be put in. Especially with authority figures involved.
Man this goes on at every major college program. Do you really think these guys would be at Alabama and Georgia if Tennessee was the only one handing out perks? If you don’t believe me just google Alabama and dodge chargers, or google Pat White and Alabama. It’s not 1950 it’s time to take off the rose colored glasses and stop pretending.

Rumors here on VN in another thread that an employee complained to another employee reporting to Plowman about players receiving benefits and then just going through the motions after the benefits were received.Plowman was informed about it. If true that’s how easy it is to get caught or not get caught.

True, but there is a reason to try to stop the wrongdoing at the HC. That is why there was so much gushing over Fulmer at the press conference by Plowman and Boyd as they were emphatic that the AD was not involved at all with any of the identified infractions.

I was watching Josh Pate ( I think that's his name) and he said the infractions were not "moral/ethic based", but, procedural. He said it was nothing that other programs don't do, it was the way he they were doing it, for what that's worth. Kind of left me thinking it is o.k. to cheat as long as you win.

Whoever the rat was they obviously gave verifiable and indisputable evidence. You don't hire the top law firm for this kind of stuff than roll over and throw yourself on the sword without an official NCAA investigation. They should have stonewalled the NCAA so it must be pretty bad.
Or pretty stupid......on their part.....there was way too much noise that this was a ploy to fire Pruitt for cause for it not to have some level of legs.

Just win baby! If TN is 8-3 this isn’t a topic.

That’s true man. Everyone knows Alabama wrote the book on cheating, but they are winning so no one wants to shoot the cash cow. Winning gives those involved more incentive to keep things hush hush.
