I could give two about missing bowl games - i don't care if it's 2-3 years.

Limit the damage to the 85 and recruiting scholarships and we will be fine.

If we can't recruit full classes it will be hard to rebuild.

And you know the more I keep thinking about it, since we started the investigation without the NCAA finding out first I would think that help help lessen our punishment?

The NCAA hasn't done anything to other programs who have committed major violations and then given them the finger. UT does a big internal investigation, self-reports the findings, fires coaches and staff. If the NCAA tries to hit the program with major sanctions, then the UT admin should tell them to get bent...in court, of course.

As for Kiffin, he would be a great fit at UT. Considering the roster he had on offense in 2009, he got a lot out of them. He's also become a much better coach and his off-field antics aren't as bad (although they do still exist). Concerning NCAA trouble...he's a guy that plays in the gray area of the rules, but he's not a major violation risk. He would turn things around pretty quick. Stick him with a huge buyout if he were to leave and a small buyout if he's fired.

He'd be a good choice, but they won't go after him with as much stuff as he did when young. He was also part of the Colorado rape scandal.

He went 28-15 overall. Won 8,10,8 games and was 3-2 when he was fired. We would kill to win 10 games in a season.

I agree but for USC back then that wasn't very good..8 wins.. and I attribute that to the loss of scholarships not kiffin coaching

I’m not going to address this anymore because it’s obvious that you can’t talk to some posters.

1. We had a complete idiot as a head coach the last 3 years. He was terrible on the field and extremely reckless off the field. Behind the scenes Support staffers were threatened and he tried to strong arm people into covering up stuff by him and his staff. That you cannot cover up.

2. There is not a “clean” program in major athletics. No matter the conference. But there are gentleman’s agreements in place that self polices. When you start doing things to violate those (which we did) that’s when you get in seriously trouble. We were doing those things early and often. So this whole “we will never win now” is ignorant. This whole investigation was more about Pruitt meddling in stuff he had no business in and things he isn’t even qualified to have an opinion on.

We have a fantastic chancellor and president now. We are now in an AD search and i trust that they will make a good hire and then we will get to head coach. I feel 1000000x more confident in our future than i did a week ago.

Why would we hire him? He's never been a head coach or a coordinator. We need someone with experience who knows what they're doing.

I mean we haven’t been able to convince someone like that to take this job in the past three coaching searches. What makes you think we can do that now with sanctions looming?

One interesting thing about if Kiffin were the hire. They wouldn’t have to fire Chaney. Kiffin brought Chaney to UT last time. Kiffin, Chaney, Steele, Garner, Graham...that would be a nice staff. ‘22 instate class would all sign with UT. We’d be back in 2 years.
