HC - Marrone
DC - Steele
OC - an innovative mind
Position coaches - mix of recruiters and developers. Keep Tee and Jay if they want to stay.

That staff would raise the floor around here quite a bit. Need to move quick to catch the assistant coaches while the shuffling is still going on.

I suppose Chadwell as HC with Steele as his DC could work, but Chadwell would have a hard time feeling comfortable with that arrangement given Steele's relationship with Fulmer and what Steele did with Malzahn at Auburn.
I think Jay will stay but reading a lot that Tee won't be here next season.

What is there to defend? You said he’d have coaches forced on him. My argument was that he should get to pick his own staff. You continued to act like no matter what, he was getting someone forced on his staff. I disagreed. Then you got big mad as usual when I pushed back against your definitive assertion. Is what it is....
You are talking about definitive assertions like you aren't doing the same thing. Last I checked, you didn't have Fulmer's office bugged up.

The idea that Chadwell isn't going to be able to resort to his rolodex of coaches when he takes a big time job is an assertion, but it's simply common sense. Look at someone like Brian Harsin with a much better pedigree than Chadwell. How many coaches from BS is he bringing? Do you think he would like to bring more? Who's decision do you think that was? I'm sorry if it isn't so common for you.

Are you kidding me? The football program is better after Pruitt? I've heard of aliens, so you must be from another planet, cause you're sure as hell are no expert on the state of our program.
Since Butch’s last team went 0 for 8 in SEC, wouldn’t Pruitts 3 win squad at the present time TECHNICALLY be considered better?

Really? I'm amazed we're able to get quality players here at all, in any numbers. I'm not saying that sarcastically or facetiously.

The program does have things going for us - big stadium, nice facilities, but so do lots of other schools that have recent relevance. Tennessee last played in a game of national consequence when these recruits were 4 or 5 years old, and the last elite team we fielded was a few years before they were born.

We're going to need some kind of pure luck event to break the cycle. It's our only way out. A Dabo-esque hire.
I think recruiting, like any sales job, is more feeling than anything substantial.

Lane Kiffin had done nothing here and landed Bryce Brown among others. Kirby Smart won 6 games at Georgia his first year but landed the #1 class in the country off of it. It's all salesmanship.

So you check Fulmers office now?

Look out, we gots us another insider over here!

Or AHC or DC or co-DC or analyst or consultant or floater. Options. Flexibility. Continuity.

If that’s the plan let’s get Freeze for OC. He can also be AHC. That was my plan 2 years ago but we hired Chaney instead. I guess Fulmer didn’t see my post.

Hiring Chadwell has the feel of hiring another Bitch Jones!! I don't like the idea of having the smaller lineman again to get pushed around by SEC defensive lineman!!

I have no problem with your Freudian slip, whether intentional or not...I just love to use this gif when I get the chance!

So if we end up with Marrone, Steele, and Garner, who do we look to have in the OC box calling plays
The fans of course! We take turns texting in plays as needed, since we are all so knowledgeable. You know there are posters on here that would love it and feel qualified.

It isn't program suicide. You need to calm down, McGill. I'm not wanting to hire Marrone, but the guy has experience. He isn't going to come here and be Pruitt. He knows how to coach. Again, he took Jax to the AFC title game. On top of that, it seems likely that Steel and Garner are on his staff. That's two SEC coaches with experience coaching and recruiting at a high level in this league. Marrone also coached under Payton, he knows what a good offense looks like. He probably brings in a top notch OC. Can he recruit? Not sure. We know Garner can. I think he's a safe hire. Does he win championships? Idk. Does he go 4-8? Not imo. I think he's a stabilizing hire that might bridge us to the next guy.

Again, I'm not sure I want him, but if our options are he and Chadwell, and that appears to be the case, he's the safer of the two. Might not have as high of a ceiling, but I guarantee you he has a higher floor. Chadwell might get up here and get eaten alive in this league. I'm not sure.

That's why you always judge a recruiter by how hot their wife is
