Steele's career scoring defense rankings were:
2009 - 25th
2010 - 13th
2011 - 81st
2015 - 32nd
2016 - 7th
2017 - 12th
2018 - 14th
2019 - 17th
2020 - 39th

We could do much worse.

Edit to say that this is a reason to bring him as DC - definitely NOT HC. Pass on him as HC, absolutely take him as DC.

Two things about Steele, he gave up 10 touchdowns in one game.
He was in on getting Gus fired, who believes Chadwell would want him on his staff?

I think the first part was a fluke, but if there is any truth to the last part, I don’t know if I want him working for UT’s new HC.

Go to the Clemson board and tell them that..

Hell they have forgotten him by now it’s been so long.

Steele has been by far the best DC in the SEC over the last decade. He’d be a great hire here with a new HC

One thing also to keep in mind he had a lot of health “issues” at Clemson and Baylor. He’s clearly past those

A lot of these people don’t know who’s good and who isn’t good. They just think they do. They form their opinions based off of agendas that are created online. Good thing we have folks in that AD who are knowledgeable.

You people are insane who think the guy hasn’t been a good AD. Every athletic program at Tennessee is better than the day it was when he took over. Fundraising has increased every year. Even in a pandemic year. Every coach up there has been given absolutely everything they need to compete for championships. His job entails more than football.

Are you kidding me? The football program is better after Pruitt? I've heard of aliens, so you must be from another planet, cause you're sure as hell are no expert on the state of our program.

The "Fulmer talking to Steele" nugget being out there kinda makes me feel uneasy. As DC alongside Chadwell? Yes please. But not too long ago these two were talking about Steele being the head coach here.

No rumor should be taken as fact about Chadwell. It's awesome news if true because this could end with us all feeling much worse.

Chadwell would bring some optimism back to the whole program imo. Whether he succeeds or not who knows. But I like that he's a Tennessee guy and I like that he will hate Alabama like I do. I like that we haven't had to watch him coach for one of our rivals. I'm sorry but I don't like wondering if our coach means it when he sings I don't give a damn about the whole state of Alabama. I want our coach to take disrespect for this state and program personal. To understand why our expectations are what they are. To not make us feel wrong or naive for having those expectations. Chadwell gets me feeling some type of way man. I like the connection there and I like the idea of rooting for him.

Surely clarity is coming soon.

He's said before that his main focus is football and he was brought in to fix football. He hasn't done that. The only good hire he can take credit for is a men's golf coach. AD's for better are worse are judged on their hires. His main one is failing.

Fundraising being up is probably based more on the economy was doing so well prior to the pandemic mixed with the nostalgia he provided to the program. Also the Tennessee Fund has a great staff that's good at what they do. I'd also wager that it's not up YOY this year. If it is, it's based on multiyear agreements that people couldn't get out of. Most schools have seen fundraising decrease in a lot of areas with the laws that were passed that made donations for tickets non tax deductible.

The football program is in better shape today than it was the day Pruitt took over. All you have to do is look at the roster today compared to the roster when he took over. If you can’t see the difference, you’re a lost cause anyway.

Never been a big fan of Steele, but I'm not sure who else is out there that would come. Having played here, I could see Steele willing to come work under a young coach like Chadwell, but don't think it wise to force it. I'd hope Chadwell would be willing to hire veteran guys to at least run his defense, but he still needs to be wary of staff chemistry. I mean, Pruitt hired Brumbaugh without an interview and we see how that ended.

Steele is a massive upgrade over Ansley. Also I would love to have Gardner. Chadwell? I don’t think TN is the right move for him. Yeah he has done decent at CC but I would much rather see him at a smaller school than TN for a few years. Then he can come here. We need a big time proven winner now. Not a young guy who needs to cut their teeth in the SEC.

Seems like you copy and pasted this from Deerparks post. Fulmer sucks. He is the main reason this football program is pure trash.

Then I guess we people will just have to plead insanity. Or did I get that backwards.

I agree on Chadwell. Not a big fan of Steele. Better than Ansley? Sure, but what does that really mean? As far as Garner, I'm surprised that rumor is out there because I've always heard there was bad blood between he and Fulmer from when he left here.

Talking about lost causes, If that's true, then why were we 3-7 last year.
