I think we’ve all heard certain things, but there’s no way to verify the rumors. Mainly because these “allegations” border on schoolhouse gossip - just the nature of the beast with impermissible benefits.

I don’t doubt something serious is being investigated. I don’t think anyone taking about it is doing anything more than speculating and wishful thinking.

It kinda makes sense, Reid has been here long enough to know the ends and outs of the AD position. What do the higher up at UT think about him?

He’s fine, no opinion either way. When the AD spot comes open, the guy to watch honestly, is Rick Barnes. He’s got the JUICE right now, so he’ll have an opinion. He won’t make the hire, but they will ask his opinion.

Outside counsel is re-interviewing. The investigation will go from verbal interviews and internal discussions to a written presentation of findings. So people saying X will decide that Y will happen on Z day are speculating. Based on whatever. UT's attorneys have not been saying that.

Two things have been substantiated via outside reporting:

We gave Amarius Mims money.
It appears we have been paying for hotels for prospects on unofficial visits.

Eric Gray is also involved somehow and we know it because he sat out a game.

So why would Napier think he’s earned this? I’m assuming that from earlier posts about his demands. Saban had won a title at LSU. Track record of winning at a high level. Napier hasn’t proven anything. Sure he has won... in the Sun Belt.

Noone has said these are or would be his demands. It is all speculation. I read and heard he turned down Auburn when they wanted him to keep Steele and others on his staff. But who knows if that is true and, if so, maybe he wasn't comfortable working with Steele, especially with all the stories of Steele wanting the hc position in the 1st place. Sit down with him, get his ideas of what he would want and go from there.

Thanks for asking. I had surgery for prostate cancer back at the end of October. Margins were negative and follow up PSA was 0 so it looks like it's gone. Recovery is going very well.

I was thinking about something yesterday. It involves TN, Liberty, Freeze and Art Briles. So there are some on here that have said there is no way we would hire Freeze. That we shouldn’t hire him because of past issues. I completely understand Briles past issues as well. Here is where I am going.

Freeze is at Liberty. A Christian university and so far there have been ZERO issues. He is doing a fantastic job there. I remember reading somewhere that Briles said if the Liberty job opened up he would love to take it.

So why would Liberty take a chance on Freeze? Did they not know about his past? My point is if Liberty took a chance on Freeze and he hasn’t gotten them in any trouble, why shouldn’t we give him a chance? Especially given the fact that it seems he WANTS to be here.

Yall are really underestimating how few coaches will want this job when we are dangling our current one out like fish bait. There is one man in my opinion who would take this regardless of the perception of the job & thats Freeze.

Completely agree. The way this has been handled will be very unattractive to many quality coaches. But hey, if it means we have to “settle” for Freeze, then I am cool with it.

I'm not disputing that or advocating for him, but hes not the dumpster fire certain people are making him out to be. He would be firmly in the "at least we won't suck" camp. I would take that right now over what we've been seeing.
