Leipold has built something at Buffalo though....

Yeah, Houston had insane runs at lower level stops like Lenoir-Rhyne, the Citadel, and James Madison too. It just has not translated as yet. They are very similar, and I can think of at least a dozen realistic guys I’d like to see us get before either of them.

I don’t want to replicate that. Checks and balances are great in athletic departments Bc the truth is 99.9% or coaches ever hired aren’t Nick Saban or Urban Meyer and they should not have that much power.

Could imagine Dooley, butch, or Pruitt having that. THAT is rock bottom.

Agreed. Checks and balances protect programs. It would be foolish to grant absolute control to make a mid-tier hire.

But is this a pipe dream or is there a legit chance the guy would come here?
I don’t think it’s a pipe dream because he is at Minnesota. He has an crazy good deal there but I’m sure his personal aspirations and drive would at least intrigue him. I could see him wanting to be at like Michigan or maybe even Oklahoma if Riley leaves this year for NFL.

Buffalo is FBS, They played in the MAC championship game this year.

One rival: Bama. One coach: Saban. Checks and balances aren't a bad thing.
Checks and balances aren't a bad thing, but over the last while, somebody quit or failed to check and we are sooo far out of balance now the vibrations are about to put us in a ditch!

He was immature. But we would have been fine had Pete Carroll not had to leave SC at the wrong time of year imo.
With all the stuff (supposedly) going on behind the scene, he may not have lasted two years here anyway.

Would love to hear a well thought out response as to why he wouldn’t succeed here. I know taking two programs to their best win totals in 100 years happens all the time.

I never said he wouldn’t succeed here. But have us winning the East in 3 years? That’s a joke. Let’s see. He beat nobody at WM. He had a decent record playing extremely bad competition.

At Minnesota he has had 1 good season where he had some upsets. But this year he had the same record as Pruitt did in year 4. I think Fleck would be good for 7-8 wins a year. Winning the East? I doubt he could recruit to the level where he could win the East.

Yeah I could be wrong about him for sure. They just seem similar to me. I’m not saying he would fail or anything, just that there are quite a few guys that I would have higher on my wishlist.
