What do you think it will look like to other coaches who can either come here or go somewhere next year..... we have rarely been coaches first choice for this very reason.

If a coach won't come here, because they cant see that the previous coach screwed himself, do we really want him?

All we had to do was fire him Sunday after Texas Am. We’d have a new coach in by now and have direction but no. This university said how could we do this bad....ok. Let’s do it even worse than that. Let’s drag out an investigation and completely hamstring the coach even if we want to keep him but make it obvious we are going to fire him and lose all of our players in the process

• This is what happens when you hire Fulmer as AD with no experience
• Very predictable.

Finebaum: What is the end game?

Thamel: Have to decide - do we want Fulmer. New President has inherited a complex situation due to the extensions and raises with Pruitt and Fulmer. Tennessee is like the Saturday Night Live skit of the SEC. What is Tennessee doing? Clearly no direction. Whether its days weeks or months, cannot see a path where Pruitt survives this.

One thing that was illuded to in that podcast was that this tactic may also be used to fight the ridiculous buyouts now being commanded.. Maybe some good could come from it by pushing things more towards performance/incentive based contracts.

I know, I'm probably being overly optimistic....

Well, it's already started at Michigan. Harbaugh is about to sign a four year extension and his base salary is being cut from $8M to $4M per year and the buyout is really low. It's incentive based that could get him to $8M per year but he would really have to perform for that to happen. They may have the blueprint for coaches going forward.
