Why in the hell would any coach wanna work at UT?

FL did an entire investigation and nobody knew a damn thing until they announced their findings.

Yet we have this circus.

Because people within the organization aren't team players and leaked the information. Florida's AD must have a tight circle and demand that nothing gets out. You can't make good decisions when people have ulterior motives.

The Chancellor has faith in the AD, and supports him.
The AD believes that Pruitt will turn things around given time.
Chaney will have say in who the new OL coach is, and he expects Chaney to have more input in the offensive philosophy next year.
Pruitt will not be fired for football reasons. The only way he does not return is if something damning comes from the investigation.

Level I: Severe breach of conduct
This level of breaches covers “violations that seriously undermine or threaten the integrity of the NCAA collegiate model as set forth in the Constitution and bylaws.”
The violations are aimed at fair play so that no one school has a competitive or recruiting advantage over another school or receives a substantial benefit that is not permissible.
Examples of level I violations include:
  • Academic fraud
  • Failure to cooperate in an NCAA enforcement investigation
  • Individual unethical or dishonest conduct
  • Lack of institutional control
  • Violation due to a head coach’s responsibility for an underlying Level I violation by an individual within the sport program
This one is going to get Pruitt, Doug can keep his head in the sand

i know you have, but you, like most of us (self included), have had things leaning one way vs. the other....especially over the past week or so.

and really...option A still seems to be most likely if you cut thru all the BS and speculation.....

That's exactly it. Anybody who has been certain of the outcome or giving timelines has been speculating. There's been uncertainty everywhere-- inside, outside and all around UT.

"We don't want to fire him and pay the buyout...

...but hey, maybe our boosters will bankroll the buyout...

...okay, nobody's stepping up so we'll work with him, maybe lose a few bad apples, get rid of the narc...

...no wait, if we can find cause, we could save the buyout, so let's investigate a little longer...

...oh, well, we didn't get the goods, so maybe we could reduce the buyout...

...well, Sexton sure shut that down...

...OK, so we'll just cover off on this NCAA thing and while we're at it, have outside counsel dig a little deeper...

...wow, who knew incontrovertible evidence was so tricky; man, this cause stuff is a real drag...

...but hell, it's really toxic now, so maybe he's ready to be out...

...WTH, the guy wants to keep doing his job after all this-- he's actually recruiting, contacting transfers and shortlisting staff changes...

...well, we have to let him interview while we continue to strategize and talk to people...

...WTH, he's ready to hire...

...well, you know, we could work with him, lose some of the bad apples..."

For what it's worth, if we can't or won't go after Herman/Freeze,Gus, then I'd rather have a Chadwell/Napier that is younger and has a lot of upside/fire/relatable to players than a Marrone... I just can't see that guy recruiting worth a flip and that is one of the most important parts of being a HC at UT right now.
We've been over this many times in here-----UT recruits itself. That's why we have soooooo many 5 star guys lining up to play here

Brent says no news is coming this week.

They are killing this program. Literally committing suicide. If they're keeping Pruitt, they are hamstringing him by keeping him from being able to hire the best staff he can or to land transfers and recruit. If they're hiring a new coach, they are creating such chaos over here that the candidate pool is going to be very small. On top of that, he also will be late and will have trouble hiring staff and signing transfers and getting started.

We have the worst leadership in the country. It isn't close. These people are worthless.

The administration deserves to have their football team be embarrassed week after week next season.

Who is they?

I seriously just can't wrap my head around the "he will not get fired for football reasons" thing. Is he gonna get another extension if he goes 4-8 next year? Fulmer just loves the guy? Are they dating? Do they sit around and wax philosophical about asparagus and Skoal? Does Pruitt have compromising pictures of Fulmer? Is Fulmer seeking revenge on UT for firing him? Is UT run by the deep state?

Fulmer is selfish and won’t allow himself to admit he was wrong about hiring Pruitt.

He’s a major problem right now.

@MoCo_Vol , In regards to the NO Mitigation clause, I believe @LA Vol mentioned that it was in the original contract and would've been standard language for ANY HC we hired due to the lack of leverage in the UT AD. I don't believe it's something new that CPF recently added. Which makes sense if you think about the state of our program over the past decade.

Unfortunately that's Section 3.1.2 of his contract and the only available contract on the university website is for the latest (twice amended) contract. So I can't verify if it existed in the first contract or not. If so that's an even bigger bonehead move by Fulmer.

I did however find this bit, which is a silver lining of sorts.

This was amended though to January 2026, so his buyout would be 60% of the base pay/supplemental pay and not the full amount.

Hope they Enjoy an empty stadium, 12pm kickoffs on sec-alt, and the annual cbs bama beat down on national TV. UT is a joke and has no balls.

Nothing new here, it's always been no level 1's that point back to him and he will continue coaching here.

yep. we're on auto pilot at this point. lol.

im pretty much back where i was two weeks ago. he's coming back, we're getting a new staff, mostly. we'll see what happens, hopefully by the time spring rolls around we'll be back to a more normal schedule and can have a full, regular, and meaningful spring/summer/fall pre-season.

Common sense ain't so common. It comes down to pride IMO. Fulmer wants to ride with his guy and doesn't want to make a change unless absolutely necessary. (major recruiting violations, etc)
