I’d rather lose confidently than go in knowing I’ve already lost.

He talks a lot..... usually good offense..... been fired twice..... did decent here in his one season but still had a couple of really bad losses here in ole miss and va tech..... that year he took over one of the better defenses in the country and fixed crompton..... he just had a 5 win season in his second season at FAU..... I think he has potential but my goodness his legend is way bigger than his accomplishments.

Also, Josh Pate who is firmly in the camp that UT is a top program capable of being on top again, says that Napier would be a great candidate for us. I like that guy.

now, this would be the most un-Tennesseelike thing ever, but any chance the reason there's been nothing, is because there is nothing? and they're working behind the scenes to put together a truly top notch staff??? there are a lot of good coaches available right now that most anyone would like to have on their sidelines.

it would contradict a lot of the rumblings and go against what most of us believe about how Tennessee does things....

but to your point, even AP said it yesterday on the podcast, pruitt's working really hard on the 22 class, interviewing, looking at transfers etc.....

is there still a scenario that we do keep him and all our hand wringing is just that? i mean, for the most part, most of this, hell virtually all of it has been speculation from the get go. we've been in coach search mode since before the Vandy game....and coach still hasn't been fired.....?

sugar coat? no. hedge his bets? yes. which is a fair thing to do because unless you're talking about the results of a game or season, everything else is "unknown" and speculative.

I dont understand why there is nothing from the university in regards to all the reports that he can't hire. Every other school with openings are filling them...quickly. Dozens of kids in the portal have already committed and they are running out of time on that.
