Here's the bottom line:

The UT offensive line coach position is not that highly regarded right now given the fact Pruitt is in limbo. He had a candidate on campus yesterday - probably one of very few candidates who want the job. If Pruitt is safe, we will get word that Jim Turner has been hired, and soon.

He should be fired for cause for trying to make that hire.

I don't think Tennessee could swing what Herman's buyout was ($24m if you include assistants) but the money is there for Pruitt's. They just don't want to do it.

It is expensive? Yes, but it could be afforded without putting the AD in some gigantic hole.

Many of you are underestimating the desire of the casual fan. VN and Twitter overwhelmingly want him fired, but I've seen numerous posts on "Vols" facebook groups that are overwhelmingly pro-Pruitt. So yes.

I'm not there... but he's not acting like a guy who wants to be let go. He's acting like a guy who wants to do his job and is frustrated at being hamstrung. It's easier to come to an agreement when both sides have the same end goal. Not sure we're at that point.

That’s because they’ve got more money under oil wells than we’ll ever have. They didn’t bat an eye offering a record amount to coaches they want and pay them off when they’ve had enough. Nobody interferes either. That’s the nice part

I don't think a coaching job is going to be attractive to any but those that can't find employment elsewhere. That applies to the head coach as well. The folks over there had the opportunity to put this thing to bed weeks ago one way or another. Seems to me some are digging to find whatever they can to justify firing him. Whether it's to mitigate damages or to just place a positive spin on firing the guy after three years, I don't know. It's my belief they've known for while the majority of what infractions were committed and it wasn't enough to justify firing him so they kept digging. They should have just fired him and been done with it or gave him another year. What has transpired will be more detrimental than either of those, imo. What started all this calamity was hiring him in the first place. It wasn't a smart move.

Then he's more in that 2nd spot (being competitive and wanting to fix things) which is a positive for Pruitt. But as has been said many times, gotta be a better people person if you're not carrying around Saban's success.
