There is no way in hell Kevin Steele is coming here to be Pruitt's DC. That's a great hire in an ideal situation - i.e., 1) if there's little to no fallout as a result of this investigation and 2) if Pruitt would actually allow him to do his job.

Seeing as #1 is uncertain and we know #2 would never happen, he wouldn't come here.

He would if it meant he had a chance to be HC if things went south again. I doubt it too but it’s possible

The fact that Pruitt hasn't been fired yet seems strongly indicative that they are near-hellbent on keeping him. The team regressed badly in year 3 and hasn't made progress overall, there's an investigation into his staff, etc., and here we are on January 5 flapping in the wind "uncertain" if he is returning. They really, really want to keep him.

I think he is only fired unless they find things in the investigation that would lead them to believe that the NCAA is going to stomp a mudhole in this program.

that, we agree on. and don't misunderstand, i'm not advocating FOR pruitt.

i am saying, what's the difference in getting rid of google coach 4 to replace him with google coach 5? the results will be virtually the same, especially for the next year or two.

and we'll watch some key guys transfer out. we'll watch that 22 classs fall flat. and we'll be doing this again....again.

i mean, if what is going on right now is hwat you want out of your football program, by all means, go ahead.

but you could have fired pruitt the day after the vandy game and no one would have blinked. what they're doing now, and where they've let this get to from a perception standpoint is just plain irresponsible.

what you're suggesting is simply doing the same thing we've always done, and just hoping it gets better. cause....well....it never has.....

you realize that every single coach (great or bad) was “coach google” at some point. Every single one of them. So if thats the only reason you’re not hiring them it’s a lazy one and you should just say “i don’t want to hire them Bc i don’t know much about them”.

Who the hell was Lincoln Riley 5 years ago? An OC at ECU.

I’m not saying i want to hire just anybody from out there but this whole resume check list is so over blown because there is no science to it. Being a successful head coach at this level is more about your personality and people skills than anything.

While you may be correct, the one thing about Kevin Steele is that he is 62 years old. He's made money and doesn't need to look at job security anymore.

The difference with Tennessee is that I have zero faith in our leadership's ability to be correct about a Coach Google. Other schools with more competence, yes, they can do it. Our people can't. They're so bad at it.

Chadwell, or Napier, or other guys might be great up and coming coaches, but if our people show interest in one of them my first thought would be that maybe he actually isn't that good, because we want him, and we're terrible at picking coaches that "might" be good at this level.
