I follow them..... have for years.... not sure about schisms but I soon realized they were throwing sh$t against the wall to see what stuck.... they got some things right even before I heard but a whole bunch wrong.

Well I hope they’re wrong on this one based on the Bengal fan reaction of him leaving.

What.... AJ is a current Starting MLB in the league lol he can cover. As can a lot of LBs...... crouch just isn’t one of them.

AJ had significant struggles here in pass coverage. He was hammered by many posters here for sucking. If you weren’t aren’t then you should have been. It’s was comical how posters hates his play

and I disagree completely that there are a lot of MLBs that “can cover” now. They get abused every single game due to the RPO game

If they couldn’t cover anymore... the position wouldn’t exist. They can and do. We just don’t have any of them.

The position exist to stop the run but you do bring up a good point.

Is the 3-4 with 2 MlBs a defense that is losing its sting?

It seems to me 4-3 with a lot of nickel and dime packages might be better suited with the way offenses are going away from the run. At the very least you don’t have 2 LBs that are primarily run stoppers

My point is... I’m fine with winding up with virtually anyone.
that's part of the problem....seems way too many feel the same way...."don't matter as long as it's not pruitt" doesn't work. if that's the prevailing wisdom, count me in the camp that says just keep pruitt.

that's the type of thinking that got us Dooley and Jones...and in a more indirect fashion, pruitt.

doesn't matter at this point....feels like that ball is rolling down hill anyway. we'll be able to copy/paste this whole discussion 3 years.

The base packaging groupings are kind of outdated honestly now because so many people are in subsets virtually the entire game now. You still have to have at least LB on the field virtually the whole game who can cover something.

I think the opposite of your disagreement is true too and i think even more reckless and irresponsible. We have three years of tangible data both on the field and off the field that Pruitt is a complete failure.

Yet if a coaching candidate’s resume doesn’t check a certain amount of boxes you would rather just keep Pruitt.

It’s called battered wife syndrome. But i promise you it won’t get better. It never does.

So why have 2 LBs that are slanted toward being physical run stoppers?

I mean I see Bamas MLbs running 2-3 steps behind guys very regularly these days.

Because covering isn’t their PRIMARY job and some guys now just simply can’t be covered too.

Jayon brown is a good example of a coverage LB for the Titans.
