Dont get the love for Herman. All the resources, money, in state talent, that comes with the Texas job, and he was average at best.

Lots of factors working against him, or any coach at that place.

Should he have been better? Yes, but I don't think he's a bad coach.

This admin has made horrible decisions but in all fairness they did so under less than ideal circumstances. Here we find ourselves again a few years later reaching another crossroads. Instead of getting ahead of it and capitalizing on an opportunity we've gone the other direction. We've allowed this to get very messy and further diminish an already weak flame.

The current situation, the way it looks like it will play out at least, Pruitt leaves in a very messy situation, the program will become even more toxic. We will once again be picking a coach from the middle of the second tier.

We must face the reality, we need to lower our standards. Hire an experienced head coach who can work with others, recruit fairly well and offer stability to this turbulent program. Maybe in another 5 to 10 years we can lure a coach capable of competing for the east.

As it stands now we are a damn dumpster fire. Just fix it already.

Transfer portal is full of players leaving other teams, as always. The really good coaches have used it to an advantage.
So can a new one here if we go that route.
If some of the players we have don’t want to stay , then so be it.

"Some" are idiots..Shrout has been in the program for three years and still didn't look any better than Bailey who is a true freshman whose whole first offseason got trashed..

No, we are aren't. Money talks, and we throw it around like few others but that hasn't been enough to lure first tier coaching candidates.

The thing for Herman to consider, if we talked to him, would be if he wants to take another HC job at a place that exceeds Texas with respect to management incompetence and dysfunction.
