As are you. Texas has a more talented roster than the other teams in their conference year in and year out. Yet those other teams continue to beat them. We criticize UGA and Kirby all the time for not winning big and having all that talent.

And you counter that with an opinion of “Texas talent is overrated”.

Texas talent isn't overrated, but it's about having the right QB (sound familiar?). I wrote a post a few weeks ago that documented the terrible choices (or maybe development) that has gone back to the Mack Brown days. Garret Gilbert didn't work out, and then they took 3 star QB's that weren't good enough. That wasn't Texas' sole problem, but it was a huge factor. Charlie Strong had bad QB's and then Ehlinger was ok.

Does anybody think Marrone can beat UGA, Bama, or UF?

I can see Freeze or Chadwell doing it. Hell, Fickell came closer against UGA then we have even sniffed lately.

I just don’t think Marrone is the guy we need.

Yes. There’s a lot of coaches that can do it. Especially right now. Georgia and Florida are nothing more than solid teams.

Another interesting note... Marrone’s OC (Nathaniel Hackett) when he was at Syracuse, Buffalo, and jax until 2018 is the current OC for the packers and is highly regarded. So i like that he’s shown an ability to spot good assistants early on.

The question is, can he recruit? Will recruits see him as a “big name” or just on the surface as the fired 1-15 Jaguars coach?

Tiller implemented it but Chaney called the plays from thing s I have read on it.... I remember when Chaney became Dooley a offensive coordinator that Dooley use to joke that he has to remind Chaney that it is ok to run the ball. He will run whatever offense the head coach wants to run.

But you are right. Those are good coaches. And they repeatedly handed Herman losses even though he was better at every position. Should tell you what level of coach Herman is.

Gary Patterson is a great coach, but Texas should lose to TCU once out of every 5 years. TCU has won 7 of the last 9. TCU to Texas = Vandy to UT. The only difference is that TCU has access to better players in their state.

Losing 7 out of 9 will get coaches fired.
