Again, if you are throwing the game, would make sense to play all backups no?
He didn't play to win. You know that. I know that. Stevie Wonder knows that. But it's hard to have a problem with it when "tanking for Lawrence" was celebrated by people all year long. Eagles get a better draft pick to find a player most likely to compliment Hurts. Wouldn't be surprised to see them go WR, unless someone like Penei Sewell falls into their lap, which I highly doubt. Probably either Chase from LSU or one of the Bama WRs.

Thing is if they want a receiver one of Chase, Smith, Waddle would've been there at 9, so did it really benefit them

It allows them to have more of a choice. Having looked at a few mock drafts, it wouldn't surprise me if one of the WRs is already off the board, which would still allow Philly to choose which one they like better of the two. Or hell, they could surprise people and take a TE like Pitts. Who knows? But a better pick is a better pick, and a few spots can mean something in the first round.

Again, you don’t know that. Pederson likes Suds a lot and he was gonna play him significant snaps in this game. He said as much a week ago.
He did what he thought was best for the team overall. I don't blame him for doing it.

So do you think Wentz gets traded? What do you think they could get for him?

There was rumors that Pruitt made a few enemies in the academic department.
Not a rumor...but rightfully so to be honest. A few of those “academics” cost us at least 2 good recruits that I know of...and may be more.
That seems rather surprising. I’ve seen Scoggins and the Thornton center staff get some...”less than ideal” students accepted into UT lol. Not just in football either. There were a couple baseball guys that could barely count a few years.
Also I was not referring to situations where we couldn’t get kids into school when discussing the academics

Big if..... but what if our plan all along was to hire Tom Herman and Pruitt was set to be fired after Herman got fired but then the whole Urban thing fell threw. So the Pruitt firing was put on hold and now that Herman is actually fired he becomes the next head coach of the University of Tennessee.

Like I said big if but if that were the case it would appear UT admin finally has their heads on straight.

I didn't include Herman in my top 10 because I truly didn't think he would get fired but he is a top 3 available candidate for me. Just hope he got rid of the childish stuff he was doing.

He played who he knew wouldn't win. Purposely altering results should be a punishable offense. The NBA had a problem and fixed, the NFL needs to as well
How can any UT fan say that with a straight face after this year?
I mean yeah it seems obvious, but what seemed obvious for 99% of vol fans this year didn’t seem to register for CJP😂😂😂

I like Herman as a candidate here. What was
The childish stuff he was doing if you don’t mind me asking?

If we hired Herman we wouldn't be able to make fun of Florida for Mrs. Mullen making out with players anymore.

You are just assuming without a fiber of insight on what Pederson’s intentions were.

If his intentions were not to get a better pick then that’s a worse indictment. Makes him a blubbering idiot. His handling of the QB situation has been on par with Pruitts or worse.

At this point the Pruitt stock looks worse every day. The cause of the drop is no longer about bad football but about Tennessee's unwillingness to provide clarity on Pruitt moving forward.

Feels like there are 2 scenarios that are possible.

1. They are in complete denial of how down on Pruitt the fanbase truly is. They think we're shortsighted, emotional and reactionary. They choose to withhold their acknowledgement of us as they sit in their pointy castle and watch us suffer down below. What they may not be realizing is, their silence is actually hurting their coach too. All of us now burning. They warm their hands near the flames. We will keep our coach no matter what. Because you should remember who is in charge. No explanation deserved or required.

I hate number 1.

2. They do care. But they are actually the ones in the dark. Perhaps they are waiting on information to be revealed in the investigation which will provide clarity to help them properly evaluate Pruitt. I'm thinking they've been planning to keep him and Fulmer tried to hint at that in his spring practice comment. But that was far from a clear endorsement.

Maybe they're concerned about backing him publicly not knowing if something damning could come out of the investigation. Pruitts on field performance and sour relationships around Tennessee may not have inspired blind loyalty. And as time has gone on, the more it feels like the negativity around Pruitt continues to rise. Hires have to be made. Now I wonder if it's starting to occur to them that the best way to right the ship might really be to go ahead and fire him and start fresh. To me the longer they don't speak up for Pruitt the worse it looks. Surely somebody around that place knows this.

Which makes me think a change may be coming. Maybe this wasn't the initial plan. Maybe the time with family at home over the holidays reflecting on the good times has sparked some ideas in the imagination of these people. Surely they desire to be great. Or at least be good. They could have an opportunity that's fallen in their laps to take another swing at it. The magic with Pruitt really has kinda worn off. But this program is so much more than just Pruitt, or even Fulmer

The thing is.... If this is not true. And they're bringing him back no matter what, why not announce it publicly? Why not be clear? We've said this for weeks now but it's more pressing with each passing day. They could embrace him and downplay his failures and assure us Tennessee football is right on track and will be on top again soon. But they haven't. Makes you wonder.

Time will tell I suppose.

Like sand through the hour glass, so are the days of our Vols.

Academics don’t set the rules on admissions. That’s the administration as well as standard NCAA rules. UT doesn’t have a special admits policy but special admits happen all the time on a case by case basis. If an athlete meets NCAA requirements and UT refuses acceptance then that is on administration. In such a scenario where the athlete has met NCAA requirements and UT rejects and coaches can’t get a special admit there is something seriously amiss in the prospective student’s background. Otherwise administration is going to auto approve special admits for star athletes.
