Agree. The lack of a strong public statement of support and relative quiet on hiring new assistants has to be a glimpse of hope the admin is getting things in order to make a move. Or they’re just incompetent.
Or people they want to interview just got finished coaching in bowl games. Or they’re waiting on NFL coaches to get fired tomorrow. Or or or

What’s really funny is firing him next year will make landing ‘22 recruits almost impossible so with lower buyouts from expiring contracts and those who have already left it’s actually cheaper to fire him now (financially and for recruiting) than it is next year
That is why they are giving him 2 more years

I don't see how they can fire him next year. Opposite of all rational thought, they bought this guy's "plan" to turn things around. Jeremy 2.0 with his 4th set of assistants.

They will be hiring guys with 2+ year contracts. Surely they give the 2.0 plan 2 years. Doing all this for 1 year seems like a complete death wish. Zero chance he turns around a 3-7 team to 8+ regular season wins in 12 months. Jmo. They are pot committed with Jeremy and his plan now. There's no half-assing it.
I agree. He’s not going to be fired next year either.

He will absolutely be fired next year at 6-6 or worse. Possibly 7-5. You are discounting all the bad losses that will pile up and how laughably, absurdly scorching hot his hot seat will be.

If they allow CJP to hire new assistants then he’s here for at least 2 more years. Otherwise they would cut loses now.
You are exactly right. If he is coach in 2021, then he will be coach in 2022. If he can finish up strong with this class and get commits for 22, they will keep him. The only way this changes is if they fire Fulmer and Pruitt

If Pruitt is back for ‘21 and even sniffs .500, Fulmer will fight hard for him to be there in ‘22 as well.

Then Fulmer will go, too. Too much money will be lost if they keep Pruitt after even a mediocre bowl game season in 2021. He has to win 8 IMO.

I’m not sure what you’ve been “right” about. He hasn’t been the boss I believed he would be but we’re talking a short sample size and Texas is the first job in which he hasn’t been fantastic. There’s been nothing to ARGUE about concerning my opinion of him so it’s confusing why you’ve developed an ire over his career. You’re not usually an “I’m right...FACTS!” type of poster btw.
It's just because I really do not want Herman at UT. I have never thought there was much to him before, and I sure don't now.

But it doesn't matter what I want, we gonna get what we get.

You win...I would rather take a chance on a roll of the dice like Napier or Chadwell than someone else's refuse...at some point you will get lucky hopefully

I want them to do what A&M did and make the obvious guys turn down 100 mil...but you are right they will never do that..hence my hopelessness.

I honestly think all the fired guys are just future hated ex-coaches.
I like Napier, not sold on Chadwell just yet, but I think Herman is as good an option as either. Much like both, he found success at a smaller school when he was at Houston. JMO, but I think Herman's struggles at Texas are overblown.

Herman and Napier are probably the most realistic candidates, but we are UT. Pruitt will be back next year, and when we eventually do hire a coach, it'll be a McGoogle.

Keeping Pruitt another year will only hurt the ‘22 class considering he’ll struggle to win 6 games next season.

You can bet opposing coaches will negativity recruit against Pruitt. He’s already #1 on the coaches hot seat.

It makes no sense.

His seat isn’t hot with the university. It doesn’t matter how much we fans bitch and moan. 3-7 didn’t get him fired. He wins enough next year to get another. If you don’t believe that then you have not been paying attention to the last 15-20 years

You're acting like we never fire coaches. Neither he nor Phil are unfireable. At a certain point the fiscally prudent move is to fire him or him and Phil if he chooses to die on that hill.
