We'd be lucky to score 67 against those teams with this offensive staff.
Mizzou and Kentucky today are also much better than those Mizzou and Kentucky teams DeBord faced.

I mean, yeah, I suppose DeBord looks good when compared to our offense this year. That's like saying week-old pizza in the fridge looks appetizing compared to a pile of dog mess.

Serious question:

What has to happen for anyone to buy into what he has to say. What can he show you that would make you sign early or in February?
the players love him. If recruits will listen to the players and coaches he will recruit well. If they visit this place he will be 15-20

I believe what @ob79 has said about him. He seems like good people. I choose to believe he is not an ecred whore like some.
I see we're in the "Discredit all the insiders" phase of the potential coaching search. (I'm not one, for the record).

Y'all can say what you want about AV's "insider" status. I'll just sit back and smile.

I've seen the proof. I shook hands with it. I've hung out with it.

However, I COMPLETELY understand the level of skepticism. Until I met AV in person last year, I was still a little skeptical myself. I was VERY concerned I wouldn't like him, he'd be a little creepy, or worse...

The dude is one of the guys. He's just a down to earth, good guy. I like him. We text from time to time. And If I EVER MOVE INTO MY HOUSE (I've been building for 84 years it seems), I'll invite him to the little shindig we throw to celebrate, @volatil too...So long as they don't mind hanging out with a bunch of cops 😂😂😂.

Point is, AV is good people. He also happens to rub elbows with orange blooded royalty. Choose to believe it or not, doesn't matter. But I'll believe what he tells me until he gives me a reason not to...but I doubt that happens.

Still scored 38 vs Florida, Nebraska and A&M and 34 vs Uga, 45 vs VT.
Second half performance against UF was great, yes. A&M's defense that year was horrendous. The VT point total was aided by their 5 (I think) fumbles, none of which they recovered themselves. Nebraska was not a good defense that year and they were missing many key defensive players who were academically ineligible.

Dobbs was the reason those offenses had any success at all, not DeBord. DeBord almost lost the season opener for us in 2016 with some truly atrocious play calling against App St, and his first half play calling against UF wasn't much better.

But honestly. What the hell do they expect to happen on offense? Sure our defense isn't great but the offense has been more or less ABYSMAL for 3 years. Even with JG gone I don't see us putting up any points next year unless we undergo a huge philosophy change.

Hate to say it because I like Bailey but my first option would probably be to try an RPO type thing with Salter. Don't see it happening though.
Don't worry. Pruitt will play the qb that gives us the best chance to win.

Myself personally...... it has nothing to do with Pruitt...well, besides Pruitt saying that he didn’t have enough reps for the younger players due to covid limiting our practices...I really like some of young edge rushers..... I feel like tank has great potential..... the Memphis linebackers.... Hyatt should have been a day one starter instead of Johnson.... wideman also shows a lot of potential..... the younger mays brother looks like we won’t skip a beat at center..... I am excited about our potential..... Pruitt needs to get his finger out of his butt and figure it out.
Hyatt and Johnson play two totally different positions. Johnson is a true slot WR that likes to work underneath and between the hashes. A like mans jordan Mathews from Vanderbilt.

Hyatt is a field stretcher that was used inside and stacked to prevent teams from pressing him.

Wtf bro. I'm not invited?

I wasn’t saying debord was great or anything... more just saying those 3 games he mentioned wasn’t the reason for averaging 36 points a game or had the most points in school history.

He’s gonna have to make really good hires next month. For transfers offense he’ll have to likely not only guarantee playing time, but they they’ll get the ball. If we’re talking 2022, a lot of those kids already back him. He has to get Ty in the boat first.. do that and the dominos will fall

Smith and Miller were nothing.

Also Fulton, stone, palardy, Rivera, darr, Simms, Darick, hunter, .... all in that first class. Several NFl guys.

I guess you didn't read the article. Simms was an early enrollee. Fulton and Palardy were already committed. So, what is true is that 6 of the top 11 in the class (not including Fulton and Palardy) were already enrolled.

It’s a lot easier to just say we had a pretty good offense under Debo/butch

The gargantuan point totals in those games are what allowed him to set that record, yes. There were some offensive stinkers that year too (App St, Ohio, South Carolina, Vandy).
