Because he is making 550k as a safety coach at a top University. He could get another DC job if he wanted. Many Penn state fans would love him back. They love them some Bob Shoop.

He didn’t even coach this season

Something odd was going. Maybe just covid but it sounded like more to me

That’s right. Control the controllables. Looks like he’s coming back. Once it’s official (he hires some new assistants) I’m going to log out until next fall. I have better things to do than follow Pruitts program as closely as I normally would. It’s inevitable we’ll be terrible next fall and it’ll all come crashing down. I’ll watch the games though and cheer them on. GBO.

In your opinion do you think if CP gets 6 wins it gives him another year?

Bob_Vols at 247 (Replying to a post about Gus coming to UT):

Gus wants to take a year off. There wasn’t enough support for Napier and Chadwell. Freeze wasn’t going to happen this year. Some want to see if he can sustain success a bit longer with no mishaps. He would be a more realistic candidate next season imo
Let's wait fro Freeze then.

Fulmer didn't stop recruiting - he got his doors blown off by Richt, Saban, and Urban, who are all better recruiters than he was. I think there at the very end Phil was definitely coasting towards Neyland's win total, but he started getting passed by other coaches before that, starting in the early 2000s.

Phil was a good recruiter, but his recruiting success and overall success as a coach was largely a function of the SEC being ass with the exception of Florida during the 90s. Once the league became more competitive, Phil became average.
Bingo.

Honest question: why is it that under Pruitt it’s basically just assumed that the young guys are always more talented or better. I don’t feel like we did that as much with other coaches. Maybe kiffin.
Myself personally...... it has nothing to do with Pruitt...well, besides Pruitt saying that he didn’t have enough reps for the younger players due to covid limiting our practices...I really like some of young edge rushers..... I feel like tank has great potential..... the Memphis linebackers.... Hyatt should have been a day one starter instead of Johnson.... wideman also shows a lot of potential..... the younger mays brother looks like we won’t skip a beat at center..... I am excited about our potential..... Pruitt needs to get his finger out of his butt and figure it out.

I don't care about win totals as much as can I define the team as *not an abject embarrassment.*

This year's team not only lost a lot, it was not even competitive most of the time, and worse than that, they were boring. It was awful.

As we go through the motions of losing a coach next season, I'd hope that the team is at least exciting as it crashes into the sun.

But honestly. What the hell do they expect to happen on offense? Sure our defense isn't great but the offense has been more or less ABYSMAL for 3 years. Even with JG gone I don't see us putting up any points next year unless we undergo a huge philosophy change.

Hate to say it because I like Bailey but my first option would probably be to try an RPO type thing with Salter. Don't see it happening though.

You mean like that highest scoring offense in school history, which was achieved by really high point totals in 3 games (167 points combinedagainst Tennessee Tech, Kentucky, and a 4-8 Mizzou team)?
Still scored 38 vs Florida, Nebraska and A&M and 34 vs Uga, 45 vs VT.

For me it depends on his recruiting class

Is he loaded with 4-5 star guys and closing in on top 5?? Keep him around and see what happens with continuity. Does it look like the 2021 class? Bye if so

Serious question:

What has to happen for anyone to buy into what he has to say. What can he show you that would make you sign early or in February?
