ESPN just showed that 2 NFL teams have expressed interest in Urban Meyer.

How would he do in the league? He would have to tinker his offense to adjust to the NFL.

Decided to wait and mull over what I saw yesterday in both games with future Vol coaches. Give it time to allow the excitement to wind down.

Freeze with Mason or equivalent at DC would win a natty. No question in my mind. This quote from a Forbes article this time last year tells me how he matured as a person:
“Incredible, accepted, appreciated, humbled,” said Freeze, when asked to describe what the year since his December 2018 hiring has meant to him. “You go through things in life like I have with your family and friends and you kind of get to a point where some things that mattered before don’t really matter anymore. Some people that mattered before really don’t matter anymore, and what they may say and what they may think of you.” Phil may be in that later group of people. Will see. But it is obvious to the entire sports world he would kill it at UT and would love to be here. He could leave Liberty with a clear conscience that he was leaving them in a great spot for their future having taken them to a place they had never been.

Napier and Chadwick would be a step by step process with unknown potential at this point. Both know enough as HC's and offensive guys to adapt schemes - the x's and o's with the jimmies and joes they could recruit. I see them as equal now. At first I thought Chadwell's O was too gimmicky and QB run centric to translate. After watching more closely this time I think he is simply doing what is necessary for them to win with the talent they had. That O can be adapted, which is what winners do. The fighting chads displayed the attributes of their head coach. Impressed. Napier had to fight with the attitudes of his team who obviously felt they could just show up and beat UTSA. He got it done even though his players were undisciplined and lacked focus at times. His O can go RPO or multiple with pro set depending on personnel groupings. That's also what winners do. Both are solid on game day and make adjustments as necessary. Their players totally respect and like their HC's.

All three make Jeremy look like a middle school coach IMO. All three would be thrilled to take the job here IMO. I hope Randy Boyd is paying attention and is willing to fix UT football now - this week.

The concerns with the investigation were more about what they might turn up than what they already knew.

Maurer has been a transfer prospect for some time, long before the investigation. He isn't going to be the guy here.
I swear if Maurer goes to Coastal Carolina , Liberty , or ULL , tears it up, and we keep Pruitt .....fill in the blank.

Same with Shrout.

If you want to believe in a head coaching change, I highly recommend staying away from the Doug Mathews Big Orange Sunday show today. He talks about changing about every coach except CJP. With him being Fulmer's mouthpiece, he certainly is getting the message out that CJP stays. Fingers and toes crossed that he is really out of the loop...

Exactly. Mediocre is a game on either side of 6-6 for most schools. At Tennessee mediocre should be 7-5 or 8-4 given the resources and support it receives.

Exactly, Tennessee needs to get a coach that believes in Tennessee enough to get back to the standard set by Neyland, Majors, and Fulmer. Under no circumstances should anyone associated with Tennessee, fans included, accept 3-7 or 4-8 as middle of the road. This ain’t Kansas and smoky and ToTo.

Maybe they can fire Doug as well

Maurer could stand outside in a brisk breeze it'd snap his leg in half

Man, the Dolphins remind me of UT when it comes to QB management. Matt Hasselbeck blasting the Dolphins for being too conservative with one QB and allowing the other to sling it around the yard.

Wonder what it tells us, when assistants are changed frequently but the outcome is the same. Tells me the problem may be the HC.

Tua has the opportunities but Tuas issue is simple... He can't see NFL open receivers. He refers to the Alabama days where the receiver has a 3 yard gap. He also throws it at the feet too often. He's a rookie and has to learn what nfl open looks like. Fitz should be given a good contract to stay.

What if..... The UT AD was told no to Freeze this year but was told Freeze was on secret probation for one more year and could be hired next year? What if Pruitt is the place holder for Freeze next year? Plausible?
Pruitt would pull 9 wins out of his ass and we would extend his contract another 4 years.
