The great Saban killer” has also lost to Mizzou, Memphis, TCU and MissState. Y’all forget that stuff.

And?

I threw up his record for each year.....pretty easy to see he lost games.

Mississippi went 2-10 the year before he arrived. Mississippi won a bowl game his first season.......it don’t always take “years.”

He has improved 3 teams, from year one. That’s what I’m talking about. If Tennessee wants a coach who can improve the program from the get go.....this guy may be one of the best choices.....as he has already done it 3 times.

not saying he is the best coach in the world......heck he even has baggage. However he improves from the get go, he knows offense (very important now), he “can” beat good teams (while having less talent) and his record shows he is at least a “pretty good” coach.

He had by far the best talent tonight. No one can dispute that. Freeze was out coached though and was lucky to win this game. I will say that CC had the better QB and that is why they were able to hang. Just shows you how important the QB is.

What schools on his schedule this year has more talent? Maybe 2? Check Liberty’s roster, he didn’t have less talent.

His record at Ole Miss was about the same as every HC at Ole Miss before him since Cutcliffe with the exception of Ed O. Nothing exceptional and it appears Ole Miss was regressing in Freezes last year just like we are now. Stats don’t lie and people are infatuated that he beat Saban twice but forget he lost to four unranked teams in those same 2 years.

Stats don’t lie.....but I’m not sure what your looking at.

Mississippi hasn’t had a winning season since he left.

Freeze went 39-25 (5 years, 8-5 average)
Nutt went 24-26 (4 years, 6-6.5 average)
O went 10- 25 (3 years, 3-8 average)
Cut went 43-29 (6 years, 7-5 average)
Tubberville 25-20 (4 years, 6-5 average)

I never said anything about exceptional......but 8-5 at Mississippi is “really” good. It’s been since 1960-1962 since they had a better 3 year stretch as Freeze gave them 2013-2015.......51 years.

My goodness people.....look at the totality of the situation.

He took over a 2-10 team and in year one they won a bowl. He has improved 3 teams from year 1.

He has problems, he isn’t the best coach. But he changes things from the get go. He “can” beat good teams......while having less talent. And again he is at least a “good” coach.....plus he knows offense.

Son, I had a highly ranked kid and this sh$$ happens. Hell no I am not kidding you. Hugh will never be what he was at Ole Miss because he has little chance with the best 4 star recruits and zero chance with the 5 star recruits. SEC coaches are ruthless and they will always use that against Hugh to get the best players. You think Freeze can run with the big boys with 2 & 3 stars?

Only 1 of those schools in a P5 conference. Sounds Butch and Dooley-esque to me.

If your talking about Freeze

He took over a 2-10 Mississippi team and they one a bowl game in year 1.

Tennessee’s last set of coaches come in and have a losing record in year 1.......and they didn’t take over a 2-10 team either.

Lol

You think his Mississippi teams had more talent than Alabama?

we are talking about him coaching at Mississippi......read.

I did read your post, quack. You said “he can beat good teams...while having less talent.” You didn’t specify Mississippi. And I was pointing out his roster at Liberty. You know Liberty. One of those power football schools that Freeze has resurrected. Read.

If we beat Bama and lost to all those teams in the same season I'm calling that season a success and calling for an extension.

Assuming that loss to 6+ loss TN keeps Bama out of the playoffs.

There are as good or better options out there for UT if we fire Pruitt. The NCAA is out to get Freeze because of his previous misdeeds. We don’t need that heat.

The goal is to make the CFP. If beating Bama, losing to all those other teams and not making the playoffs is success to you then you shouldn’t be anywhere close to bitching about a coaching change.

Power football school? Sarcasm?

Did we beat Bama with Beldar (or any of our rivals for that matter) and I forgot?

People that say Freeze can’t coach aren’t even worth the time.

Hugh with ties to Tennessee from his years coaching high school ball.

Napier is from Tennessee.

Chadwell is from Tennessee.

Malzahn sitting there unemployed.

It feels like we have actual, viable, realistic, solid options. I don't think we will make a change, but the stars seem aligned for us to make a change and we're just going to sit here on our hands.

I trust the UT administration to pull a good hire less than I trust Pruitt to turn this ship around. We are in this situation because of the AD and no one else.

Exactly what Mullen, Dabo, and the like will be doing if they ever hear they have to recruit against Freeze. It will be that easy.

However good you feel Hugh was at Ole Miss, he would be a shell of his old self in the recruiting arena of the SEC.

I don’t doubt that at all.

But to be fair......it’s that easy for them against ANY “other” coaches and programs.

Bama, Georgia & Ohio State have a combined 15 5* recruits from the early period. The next 7 teams have a combined 7 total (top 10 so far).

Consistent winning can change that somewhat.....for some teams. Also a good reason a team like Tennessee needs a coach who has proven they can win early and win with less talent.

He had four 5 star recruits in 2013 alone. That is more than TN has had in the last 4 years. With that said, he had escorts brought in to get those recruits and got caught. He will never be able to sale a 5 star parent again that they should trust him with their son. Not when Saban, Mullen, Kirby, Dabo and the rest are reminding those parents of what he did.

You have to have 5 stars and highly ranked 4 stars to compete with the big boys. Freeze can’t get them anymore unless he somehow convinces Peyton Manning to be his QB coach. I don’t see that happening.
