The reason that was called targeting was the head and neck area of the ball carrier was "targeted". The defender led with his shoulder not his head..Not an established ball carrier, but yes. He led with the crown, targeting every time.
Nope, POS even lied to his own players about seeing a video. Was thinking he was already at penn state when the vandy stuff went down, but yea not a great look. Of course, I’m sure PSU would’ve vetted him up and down before hiring him, given their history.
I get that and I understand. I guess my main problem is more with the timing then anything else..It is called leverage.
They don't have to do it on record alone. The fact that a violation was allegedly reported outside the program (Mims) they HAD to start the internal investigation to try and mitigate the NCAA damage. The fact that more stuff turned up just adds fuel to the fire.
They have now can leverage the Git Money down. They would be stupid not to use it.
I went back and rewatched it, and you are right. He hit with the shoulder, not the crown. However, he was not an established ball carrier, therefore forcible contact to the head would apply. The reason that was called targeting was the head and neck area of the ball carrier was "targeted". The defender led with his shoulder not his head..
That said, I hate the call.
1. The QB is a ball carrier there.
2. The defender was playing the correct way, leading with the shoulder.
I'm really trying to understand why it was leaked to Trey Wallace of all people.Have I not said over and over and over for weeks that the past two games wouldn't influence the outcome? That this hire would be made from the top? That firing for cause was tricky because it usually involves others up the chain? That Boyd would make a decision after the season was over? To let it play out?
The only thing new today is that it was "leaked." The internal investigation was opened weeks ago.
