Windy's football discussion thread.

If I'm CJP and I know it's coming I would be saying FU to UT and looking for a job. If there is a change on Sunday, it's been decided for a month and Pruitt would have been gone and CJC would be interim.

nobody knows anything for sure. it's easy to guess no change because that seems more likely but there are some interesting coincidences that suggest something could be happening.

He’d have to be very careful because that might put him in breach of contract. I think it’s more likely that he knows it’s a possibility but if it does that’s why he has a buyout. Butch lobbied to stay, but he was here longer, had more success, and probably believed that he had more support than he really did. Pruitt strikes me as more pragmatic.

Just throwing it out there,

I hope that Iowa State wins the Big 12-2.
I hope that Clemson defeats ND.
Since the SECCG will not be canceled, it will tickle my gizzard if Florida is required to forfeit, or loses due to their own stupid mistakes. I’ve no love for Bama. They can lose in the post-season.

Bowls were originally intended to boost their home communities - bring in visiting fans, highlight the attractions of the area, garner some national media attention. To fill TV programming hours, a few recent bowls have been created which seem oblivious to the locale (those in attendance crowded between the twenties on the side of the stadium opposite the prevailing camera angles).

BUT, in the face of Covid-19, locales aren’t allowing stands packed with fans, streets, shops, and restaurants crowded with visitors. The fundamental reason for hosting a game are absent. So, why aren’t post-season games to be televised played at locations which can provide the safest situation for those who can and will be in attendance?

Brian Kelley (who looks like a drunk with a skin condition AND a sunburn) declared that ND might not participate in the CFP if the families of student athletes cannot accompany them and attend the games. He proclaims this in the face of CFP games being scheduled for the Rose Bowl despite Southern California having raging COVID-19 infection rates, 0% ICU capacity, and region-wide restrictions in place. WTF, CFP?

Move it to Texas. Easy peasy.

Arguably, New Zealand is the safest place on the planet. Negotiate to test & isolate everyone traveling with the CFP teams. Fly them and their equipment over in specially sanitized planes. Hold the lot in isolation for 14 days upon arrival. Keep them in isolation during the entirety of the playoff. I don’t care if NZ is 18 hours ahead of EST. As long as I am among the media personnel (special correspondent for VN) in attendance, it’s all good.

I love NZ. I’d travel there for a bowl game.

Also, it’s summer.
