He has baggage and would likely bring about a PR issue since it's UT hiring him vs Bama or one of the SEC's other big name programs. Then it would be a "great hire". Still, he's the right man for the right time for a program on life support. Of course, like I said, it would be UT making the hire. They won't make a bold move like that. They never do. They'll continue to hope Pruitt becomes a head coach while the fans continue sending money and UT collects their TV/league revenue. They'll have covid to cover the empty stadiums for them. Perfect setup to keep the status quo.

Let's be honest. UT's brand as a football program can't get much lower. It's no longer seen as a destination job....well....Freeze reportedly considers it a dream job, but like I said...this is UT. Don't need to bother with details like that. UT won't be able attract the proven head coach. They'll be shopping, once again, from coordinators and lower tier programs for the next head coach. Freeze will be at Auburn or maybe LSU duking it out with Kiffin and Saban in the west. UT will be....well...by then they'll be pretty much forgotten as a football program except by their most loyal, diehard fans. To those 20 individuals, you have my respect.

The fact that there isn't much talk of Freeze at Auburn makes me think there is something under the radar as far as Freeze and UT. We all know Auburn has no fear of dropping top dollar for whoever they want. It baffles me that Freeze isn't the lead name I'm hearing with the Auburn job. Freeze MUST be in heavy talks with SOMEONE.

It is difficult when your AD lacks credibility to begin with. We all know that Fulmer makes bad decisions and if he were to come out with a statement people would ridicule him, and for reason.

It is more likely that CJP will be struck by a meteor and Gruden will be his replacement. In terms of Tennessee those people have nothing else to talk about and they are taking advantage of gullible fans.

I would be absolutely shocked if Pruitt was willing to stay on as DC.

Only thing that could discourage me more would be Fulmer giving CJP another extension. Or, us firing Pruitt and not having practically a plug-n-play replacement set up.

I can see admin taking the court of public opinion stance that it's COVID influenced too much this season to delve much. Fulmer pretty much did that with "we're better than our record" talk and Pruitt getting another year.
Tbh, no coach was hired because they had pandemic handling skills so it's tough to assess the effect. Yes, everyone else had to as well but you can't standardized an anomaly, right?

I have zero confidence that Pruitt's the 'right man' for long term but he's probably the 'man for right now', reading the tea leaves. I'll be giddy if I'm wrong.

I've been around this old world for a relatively long time. I have met many a person who felt and said they knew all the answers. I generally found within a very short time that they didn't even know the questions, much less the answers. Not saying this applies to you but it sure seems to be trending in that direction.
