I feel bad for Pruitt's family. They are the ones who have to endure this stuff. It is Pruitt's fault, but I still feel bad for them.
That goes for every coach's family. None of them have anything to do with how a football team plays but some fans can't separate the family from the coach. It's really sad.

How do people not see this? Add in the 4-6 losses per year other than Year One with the other guy's players and Cam. It's not hard to figure out why he was canned. What is hard to figure out is why Auburn could not see it when they signed him to the big extension.
I understand why he was fired (far too inconsistent, he had a terrible record overall against Alabama, LSU, and Georgia) but understand why they were conflicted.

Think about it this way - since Saban arrived at Alabama, Auburn has won a national title and played for another, won the SEC twice and played for another, had a Heisman winner, and beaten Alabama several times.

It would have been really easy for Auburn to have crawled up into a ball and died like Tennessee has since the greatest coach in the history of the sport showed up at their in-state rival. Auburn has always been an inconsistent program since it began. I'd kill for Tennessee to have achieved the things that Auburn has over the last 10 years.

Their biggest screw-up with Gus was signing him to that gigantic extension after beating Georgia and Alabama in 2017.

I don’t even know some of you guys anymore...

Gus.. For real??? Lol

Couldn’t be me.
Yeah when was the last time a fired SEC coach did really well at the helm of another SEC school?

He’s been figured out by the better teams in the conference and can’t get Bo Nix to set his feet when throws. Idk why everyone is so enamored.

If I were you I’d go with Strong.

Custom build his workouts as you see fit and set the rep scheme and RPE to keep him where you think it is safe but stimulative. It won’t offer you many templates out of the box but I’ve used it for years to build my own training routines
That would be perfect, thank you. The written plans I’ve always done seem to get “misplaced”!! Lol

F it. I’ll say it. I’ll welcome Gus.
I’d welcome Gus but the big lingering worry would be about him improving on the offense and being slightly less gimmicky. But he’s a good coach. He has the best resumé over most of the people getting flaunted out here. Took Auburn to the championship.

He reminds me some of Jimbo in that he’s a good coach who needed a change at FSU. There were people here who wouldn’t have taken Jimbo which is crazy. I think Jimbo is better than Gus but similar scenarios

I'd take Gus in a heartbeat. Has beaten Saban 3x, won the toughest division in the nation twice during the middle of its hayday, and competed for a national championship. 8-4 would be his floor, which we've accomplished twice in 13 years, with the occasional east championship and national title contender every 5-7 years. Sign me up.

Had just beat Bama.

If your primary reason for wanting to hire Freeze is because “he beat Saban twice” then you can’t also argue against Gus.
What if the primary reason is that he develops QBs and his offense isn’t a gimmick? Anywho, I’m on the Christobal train. Not that we’re really going to be searching but that’s my top guy.

Why can’t Gus collect his check and come here as an intern? I know of a loser who has been doing that for a few years. That low life finally got a job.

An athletic director’s job is to support and build up each athletic program on campus, and that’s Fulmer’s overriding responsibility. But the overwhelming focus, at least for now, is football.
“I’m not a career athletic director,” Fulmer told the crowd at Calhoun’s on the River. “At this age, I don’t have any plans to do that. But I want to get football fixed.
“And I want to support all of our other coaches, that we’re back in the mix for the All Sports Trophy … but my job is to get the football fixed. And we’ve done everything to this point that could be done.”

So fix it Fulmer!

The things being said about Gus could easily have been said about Mack Brown or Rick Barnes. Sometimes you just need a change of scenery. And sometimes the chance to prove your old employer wrong motivates a coach to take the next step.

Bottom line: we could (and likely will) do a lot worse than Gus Malzahn.
