they whipped our asses very recently. severap times. im tickled anytime we beat Commedoors.

Further, never said it was a milestone. Said it will quell SOME of the doom and gloom. The players were having fun, and, smiling. Playing hard. All I can ask.

I hear ya. I guess I would feel differently if they were full force and we whipped them, even if they were still 0-8. But that was a shell of an already bad team.

We likely beat, or play close, Auburn, Kentucky, and Arkansas with Bailey at QB, and we have a fighting chance against Georgia.

That decision is on Pruitt.

And that still doesn’t explain why we can’t cover slants and why multi-year starters can’t get lined up right.

It was amazing watching a depleted MSU effectively shut down Auburn for most of the game, and they were like “Yeah, the DC has the same philosophy as Leach, just keep it simple and execute.”

Any qb besides JG and we wouldn’t be discussing this. JP brought all this heat on himself.

Hear me out. CJP has been at schools (Georgia, FSU, Alabama) with quality players and staffs his whole career. They had great players in every class. Therefore, they create a culture that you have to prove it in practice to get on the field. They have great players and can afford to do it and still win. This does a few things. It teaches that things are not given to you and you have to earn it. 4th and 5th year seniors have busting the rear ends for a opportunity to play and shine. This helps the buy in from the upper class men and the freshmen and sophomores don’t know any different because that is the culture that is being instilled into them. The upper class men get afforded that opportunity even though they may not be as talented as a freshman or sophomore is. Also, they have been there and know their assignments and make fewer mistakes.

Case in point. Derrick Henry had 35 carriers his whole freshman year at Alabama. Averaged over 10 yards per carry. It was probably in the 4th quarter of games when it was over, but still that’s insane. Look at his high school stats. They are ridiculous. I watched his high school team play on ESPN his senior year because we were somewhat still in the picture to land him and he was a man amongst little boys out there. I thought he is going to start game one in college. When he stepped on campus he was probably the best back on the team, but he had to earn it.

It is obvious that the freshman and sophomore classes have players. CJP is building that same culture here that you have to earn it to be on the field. The issue is that we don’t have enough great players to win. COVID practice probably stunted the development of the freshman and sophomore classes and is why we are now just seeing them play. I’m not trying to defend CJP because I would fire him and hire Freeze or a equivalent coach immediately, but I’m just try to show you why I think this season has run off the rails. At the same time, I can’t defend him on personnel issues with JG and in a season that really didn’t count towards eligibility except that is not the culture he is trying to instill here and didn’t want to change for 1 year that doesn’t count. He players seem to really like him.

Hopefully, he can do something to change the coaching staff and the trajectory of the program next year or he is toast.

Disagree strongly

This is 2020 not 2000
It'll also be year 4 for Pruitt and he'll mostly have his guys playing. Also have to think we'll have a full off-season so there should be ample time for the development of those players. If they can't beat 4 bad OOC teams along with Vandy, Carolina, Mizzou, Ole Miss, and Kentucky then he should be gone

For all those that know UT doesn’t care about wining etc etc - why do you think a coaching search is the answer? Genuinely curious.

To me, we’ve tried this and failed. Over and over again.

Why not let a great DC with a solid pedigree try to learn to be a head coach for a couple more years, instead of hiring a new coach and “letting him get his players” for the next couple years?

You must not have watched the last 6 games prior to yesterday... our Defense has been pathetic and grossly underperforming...

In year 4 I think in the east we should expect wins over:

Vandy
SC
KY
MIZZ
Vandy
BG
SoAL
Pitt

We should win
OM

Even if we lose to all our rivals that's a 8 or 9 wins losing to
AL
GA
FL

No way that happens, we'll be lucky to win 6. But that's not an unreal expectation for year 4.

He's not going to succeed here. Any delay in firing him only delays any potential success.

I don't think it matters either way. And FTR, it's not year 3... It's year 15, going on year 20.

Fire him and we won't get a guy that can/will do the quick turn around... So it's another 3 years to find out if he's 'the guy'...

Keep him and is another 2-3 years before he gets the roster the way he wants it to compete at that level... Hopefully.

So any way you slice it... GBO...3 years from now... Maybe.

DM: “shrout has the potential to be the better QB”

talking about the delivery of HB being an issue

Considering the multitude of ways qbs get the ball to receivers today, I put the hitch at the top of HB’s delivery a minimal risk.

3rd year qb vs a freshman with two full games of experience and half a fall training camp is a dumb comparison.

What I really like about HB is his feel for the pocket and ability to step up. The only other qb on the roster that does this well is BM.

We’ll go 10-2 next year imo.

I must be missing something while watching HB. Shrout is in year 3 and Bailey is the better QB right now. It’s not all about how strong your arm is.
14/18 207 2tds
6/13 90 2tds 1int

One is a freshmen who got no reps until the season and the other has been here three years.

Let’s look at the reality of the cards we’re dealing with re Corona.
My uncle is in town for family reasons, he was a D1 mlb, and is now a PA in louisville.
He’s highly doubtful there will be spring ball again next year. We are just now seeing the influx of new cases from Thanksgiving, thatbwill spread, then throw Christmas and NYE, in, those outbreaks won’t occur to let January and spread from there.
Albeit, those really in danger are older folks with health issues, the spread will still be real.
IF, that happens, UT would be dealing with the same issues next year they did this year, and with an almost whole new support staff to boot if they switch up coordinators!
Now is the time to clean house from the top down, doing a quick once through with new staff and same HC I’m afraid will only bite us in the ass.
Starts with the main guy, and he’s shown us this year he isn’t it, adversity or not, he mis managed it in the worst way possible.
Start fresh now, and get a damn coach that has had success and quit getting the tallest midget in the room.

This is crazy talk. We out talent every team we play next year other than 3-4. With good coaching that gets you 8-9 wins. Freeze could easily walk in here tomorrow and win 8 next year. This three year non sense is excuses for bad hires.

Yea I agree with that but there is a difference between arm strength and a slow release. From my seat HB lacks both in arm talent and has a long slow release and that’s what DM was referring to

the issue is 12 throws the damn ball to the wrong team too much as evidenced from the small size here and from his terrible HS history
