Is the mob flooding social media with negativity?

It's real simple, all Pruitt and his staff had to do was coach them up a little and show some improvement year to year, not regression and NONE of this is happening.

Covid or not, when you lose six in a row by double digits what do you expect from the fanbase. I would honestly be concerned more if they weren't in an uproar... SMDH..

I admit I used to be one of the sunshine pumper types that wanted to limit negativity so show that we as fans still love this team. I’m so jaded at this point who even cares? Kids decommit because they see a program that doesn’t develop them. If you were a 4-5 star recruit and had aspirations to play in the NFL one day would you go to a school where it’s been shown that the coaches will ruin you?

Sorry, but bad coaching hires have given Tennessee that reputation. Look at all of the great players who weren’t used properly.

Nothing surprises me anymore after the georgia state game. You couldn't of lost that unless you were trying and we found a way to lose.
Ga. States coach knew what he was doing. He makes about 750 grand plus incentives and he would be a hugh step up if we could get him. Shawn Elliott could work wonders with the talent we have.

No passion no drive. walking off field confused. Then after the fact team had an O well attitude which starts from the top coaching...

I doubt you love the VOLs as much as I do. I saw my first football game in 1945, And I listened to the VOLS basketball games when Herbie Neff was playing for Tennessee. My brother played basketball for Tennessee and my son played football for Tennessee. I am loyal to my University and have always supported them over 80 years.

Most intelligent people know what the situation is at Tennessee and Tennessee fans understand the ups and downs of any Athletic Program. What most fans do not understand is fans can speculated and assume that any coach they want often is not interested in Tennessee or many other Universities. Fantasies and dreams are just that; fantasies and dreams. Facts are facts and facts are what the bases for actions. Facts are , we have tried the hire and fire every 4 years for the last 12 -16 years. Even when Majors came marching home, it took him 6 years to become a consistent winner, and that was when there was only 3 really good teams in the SEC. The SEC network has leveled the playing field and more SEC teams can afford to improved their programs and develop good football teams. Because of our hire and quickly fire recent history, we find ourselves in a position where we have actual less financial reserves than most of the SEC schools. We can not afford to continue what we have done in the last 15 years. Attitude is one of the most important aspect of success and that includes the attitude of the ,so called, fans who continue to blast everything Tennessee does. Your attitude is part of the problem, wether you want to believe it or not.

You can play the "I've been a fan for X years" card all you want. It still will not change the fact that keeping an underperforming head coach, will do nothing to right the trajectory of a program. How does Missouri having a little more money to spend on recruiting, change the fact that we are bringing in top-15 recruiting classes, and the coaching staff can't develop them to even get top-50 results?

You are literally looking for every other reason possible for an explanation for the bad product being put on the field, except the direction of the one person with the greatest impact on that product: Jeremy Pruitt.

Go ask Alabama if firing bad coaches was a bad thing. Ask Florida if firing bad coaches is a bad thing. Go ask Notre Dame if they wish they'd fired Charlie Weiss earlier even though he was the third head coach they'd had in 5 years when they'd hired him.

this is where USCe screwed the pooch....They could have named him the HC after Spurrier bailed, but instead went after Muschump....I think he is a pretty good coach

The fans have every right to be negative. Especially on boards such as these. I don’t agree with posting on Twitter and the like, but hey, to each their own.

At this point, we have such low expectations of the team, that any glimmer of hope would spark positivity. There is nothing. Just more of the same. I’d give anything to see Pruitt kick another whiteboard on the sideline just to show he gives a d@mn

Maybe the horrific losses have a little something to do with it?
It’s a vicious cycle. The fans are not just at fault but social media DOES have an impact on recruits and their families and other potential coaches

To the weak willed an weak minded maybe. Anyone influenced by the idiocy that is rampant thru out social media is someone I do not want in my ranks.

This is all fake news covering the biggest fraud in NCAA history. Tennessee won all its games this season by a lot. Fulmer should sue in the Supreme Court.

Great News! We had some points come in overnight and we actually beat Florida 147-31.

It’s not just that. It creates perception of the program and fan base that while may have some truth in it creates false myths that become reality through self fulfilling prophecy

fans are negative because of the product on the field, not the other way around....

I think we can all understand a 2-6 football team has much more to do with their opinion of the team than Jim Bob from Twitter.

You miss what I’m saying. I’m not blaming the fans completely. But it’s naive to think that our fan base has not played a role in the last 10-15 years either. Both positively and negatively

Self fulfilling prophecy? Seriously? Maybe to people that will believe sh!t doesn’t stink just because someone says it doesn't.... 🤣

Some fans are always negative even when we won 9-10 games

Basically every passionate fan base in this conference has a vocal minority of idiots like that. Those people have little to no influence on recruiting. Failure on the football field influences how fans react. Widespread negativity in the fan base is reflective of losing game after game after game.

Can widespread negativity on social media influence how some recruits see the state of the program? Probably, but it again goes back to the product on the field. It isn't fair to expect fans to not express displeasure when they have an awful coach throwing an awful product on the field. If the head coach is doing a decent job, the reactions from fans will be generally positive.

Who said it doesn’t stink? I’ll be the first to call something stupid as such. But there’s a difference in honest criticism (I.e. Pruitt screwed up by playing JG all season and probably cost us 3 wins doing so). And 55 posts of “cornbread Beldar is a f***in idiot and we suck, our players suck, our admin suck, we will never win. We are worse than Vandy” in literally every thread 20 times a day.

Well don’t worry, it appears we are all heading towards a season of apathy. I’m sure that’ll gin up the recruiting trail.

Well Pruitt does coach like an idiot occasionally, we do kinda suck right now (players suck mostly due to bad coaching, IMO) and the admin doesn't appear to be able to pour piss out of a boot with the directions written on the heel.. They're just ways to express failure and honestly there's really no polite way to call a program a failure.

All that said, I do agree with you, there's no good reason to keep beating a dead horse no matter how politely you do it...
