I agree that Fulmer wouldnt actually do it during the season, but it seems pike there would at least be some smoke right now if it was going to happen.

So you're saying we basically have 3 options. We could turn control back over to the Haslams and their need to dictate what we do, we can pray other big money boosters open up their checkbooks to prevent that, or we keep Pruitt and suffer through another crappy season of football.

@LA Vol, you'd previously mentioned that Boyd would have no issues raising the necessary money if it came to that. Would that route include 'strings' as well?

All money comes with strings. Strings are the reasons those folks have money.

Most interesting part of Hudson Wolf decommitment...he said coaches the last two years and most recently Coach Fulmer. Says to me Fulmer was trying to help JP hold on to this class.

I agree. But any time booster money is involved to fund a buyout and/or hire the new guy, they are probably going to want to be involved. I think that is just par for the course at any school.

I don't know about everyone else, but my paycheck requires me to show up and work (strings). My bank would certainly like for me to repay more money than I borrowed for my home (strings).

He could access the funding, which at this level, almost always comes with strings or obligations of some sort.
