Real fans still follow, but it does not mean after over a decade that people will want to spend their hard earned money to watch crap. You can see the attendance numbers dropping every year. It will be terrible next year. Everyone on here is a big fan otherwise they wouldn’t post on a message board. And yet many are saying they won’t go to games so it shows how bad things are getting. The real fanbase sits and rolls with it. The others will be there when we win.
I just hate it for the younger generations of fans. Look, I’ve got a lifetime of great UT football memories, and our incompetent administration can’t take those away from me.
But for a lot of the younger fans, all they have is this clown show that we’ve been running for the past 15 years. What a shame. They deserve better.
Ask the twerp with a Bama sweatshirt who the backup QB is and there’s a good glimpse of the “fanbase” you’re worried about. They’ll always flock to who’s winning. Noticed that Clemson Crazies from the 80’s were way scarcer and less devout in the 90’s. If it remains a bad product, I hope the attendance dawdles to serve as a spur Our history has me doubting that dynamic tho. Our stadium would be packed without the Covid restrictions. EMPTY NEYLAND didn’t work in Butch’s last season...the higher up’s somehow knew it wasn’t going to get better and we moved on.Real fans still follow, but it does not mean after over a decade that people will want to spend their hard earned money to watch crap. Heard this song before...without the Facebook chorus of course.Honestly, VolNation is the only place I frequent where anyone wants to talk about the Vols. My friend group has moved on - the posts on Facebook from people who were once very animated after each win and loss are now less frequent.
They're bringing him back - that's the way this is headed. And they better hope he turns this thing around because next year is the last chance. You want to see apathy? 70k in Neyland and 6 losses will do it. And then no one will be around to care when they hire the next loser.
It’ll be a slow, slow bleed. The fans going will grow into the ones that can’t donate what the school needs thus slowly choking the life out of this football program. We’ve now officially moved into Vandy status I’m afraid. We all know how this is going to go. But let’s be real. If there’s a game being played in Neyland, there will be fans in the seats.
Thanks I appreciate that. The best season I've seen us have live is 2007. All down hill since with just a couple of ups. It's brutal. Apathy is at an all time high. I just let the UF game play in the background while doing other stuff.
