I knew we were in trouble with the '18 class because if Pruitt were the recruiter we had pegged him to be, he would have picked off some guys from Bama and Georgia.
He did. He landed JJP who Bama wanted and he would’ve been there. He landed DWA who Bama wanted also. They didn’t turn out to be very good (probably an indictment on our staff) but both of those guys could have went to Bama.

And then in 2019 he landed Henry, Crouch, Wanya, and Wright, all over Bama, ga, Clemson, OSU, and others. He landed some big targets. This is revisionist history

Bruh.... at this point, with all the idiocy going on, what makes you think UT's ADMIN is gonna do anything smart and calculated for the long term health of the program? Another terrible coach, another year too long, another drop in the program... rinse, repeat.
Nothing makes me think they will do it. Just wishful thinking, same old story I guess

If Pruitt remains next year, I think there's a chance we have some kind of start to next year that is beyond the pale. Much worse than 2019's start...I mean like starting 0-3 with blowout losses to Bowling Green and Pitt and losing to Florida by 60.
It will be bad.. plus the transfers and the best recruiting class the state of tn has ever had.

Yeah, but that ain't enough. I'll give you DWA, but I think Bama was pulling away from JJP. Propst seemed very desperate there toward the end.

Pruitt has recruited well here until this year. That 2020 class is a great class. It wasn’t a ga class, but we also suck and it was still top 10. Recruiting hasn’t been his problem. Development and QB decisions have been.

I think 7
4 OOC wins
Vandy
South Carolina
1 of Kentucky, ole miss or Mizzu
Pitt is 1st in the nation in tackles for loss, 3rd in sacks, and 9th in ints. Thats not a gimme.

We almost lost to South Carolina this season. Who knows how they'll be with a new coach.

I think the 2020 class was legitimately good, I won't argue that.

What I'm saying is it was a bad sign when he was hired and we didn't immediately get some "new coach" momentum. Dooley got it and Kiffin did too. I don't remember Butch's first class, I think that was the class where he brought Weisman and Helm from Ohio.

The biggest thing that happened from the time Pruitt was hired to signing day is that we lost Cade Mays and let Penix go.

From Basilio's Blog this morning:

Hearing All Kinds Of Chatter That Pruitt Is Pitching A Reworked Coaching Staff:

Are you excited about the possibility of Mike Bobo at OC for Tennessee's 2021 football team? This is highly comical to consider. Can't Pruitt get out of his comfort zone? Orange Throat discussed this yesterday but you could literally see as many as 6 coaching changes for next season. When you start doing the math it's going to get very expensive to bring a fledgling Jeremy Pruitt back in 2021. It's simple math. Tennessee won't attract highly sought after coaches in today's market without guaranteed two or even three year deals. We're talking about piling on potentially another $7 million in buyout money at the end of this deal. That's quite the investment when you stop and think about how little Pruitt has shown.

The Tony Basilio Show

Phillip Fulmer is a hypocritical dumb ass for keeping Pruitt if the situation is about “money”

Pruitt deserves a ton of criticism but you can hold that 18 class against him IMO thy was the first ESD so he didn’t have long to assemble a class. Dooley and Lyle had an extra month.

I actually thought we’d have better pull too, especially DB recruits. I kinda felt like he swung for the fences too hard for some 5 stars early on, when some fringe top 100- top 250 guys maybe could have been had. Then when he struck out, we were scrambling for diamonds in the rough.

I've thought about this a lot, but I don't believe the defense is nearly as bad as we think. They are on the field a ton due to our anemic offense.
Don't get why this myth keeps getting tossed around when there's really nothing to support it. If we were clearly tiring out in 4th quarters and suddenly getting bullied, then maybe.

What games has the defense suddenly tired late and started playing poorly? We've allowed 29 TDs this season and only 4 have been in the 4th quarter. Most games are put away by the end of the 3rd. If we are tiring by then, that's an S&C issue (not that I buy that either).

We are averaging 29 minutes of TOP. That's not reason for an excuse, especially for porous 2nd and 3rd quarter defenses.
