UT football is just a good ol boy's club. It's an expensive hobby for rich guys to toy around with and get into pissing contests over. Results on the field do not matter.
I think they do want to win, but what they truly enjoy is winning because their particular idea was adopted.

If winning means that a rival booster's idea gets adopted and they get all the credit for it, I think some of them would rather lose and be a laughingstock. The level of people's immaturity and pettiness never ceases to amaze me.

Basilio is more on target than most people here give him credit for.

Where he errs sometimes is with the hyperbole, and I think he claims to know specifics and details at a much greater level than he actually does. But he's on the right track more often than not.

Plus, I think a bunch of people don't like him purely because of his voice and he's a Yankee. If he was a southern good ole boy type, I bet he'd be loved here. He's anti-establishment and offers an alternative to state-run media. He's much better than those guys over at Fox Sports Knoxville.

Fair point, we know Urban is a filthy liar. Petersen I think stepped away for the family stuff going on, more than the stress of coaching. I just think he's more private and didn't want to use that as his reason, still if I'm in a coach search I want folks (fans) to know I called arguably one of the best names not currently tied up with buyout restrictions.

Only had 3 seasons in his tenure with 5 or more losses, and never had a losing season.
Yeah, you don't have to sell me on him as a coach. I really was hoping we'd be the one to pry him away from Boise back in 2012 when LWS Vol was saying there had been discussion of it.

I may get blasted for saying this, but so be it. It's very difficult to unify people from all different walks of life unless they have a singular focus. I think the program did a poor job of keeping the team focused on football thru CV-19 and made an even worse decision by wading into the middle of the social justice debate. This just further removed the focus from the only unifying force shared by all 120 of so players. Their motives might have been great, but I think it's had a decidedly negative effect on the performance of the football team on the field. We're losing either way, so it doesn't really matter. Just an opinion.

I love Tony, and he’s very entertaining, but his biggest problem is that he runs with everything he hears. He’s been here a long time, has a ton of sources that are in positions to hear things, but I don’t think he filters out much in terms of rumors.

Those post-game shows are a real service to our fanbase, though, and I can always do the filtering for myself.

I love Tony, but can understand that he doesn't rub everyone the right way. His show is basically an audio message board, the vetting process for throwing rumors out there is much less stringent than WNML, so take everything with a grain of salt, but he gets some stuff right too. I simply can't stand listening to the company line at WNML. His post-game shows that go on into the middle of the night have been the best thing about Tennessee football the last 5 years.

If Pruitt does come back. He should go Remember the Titans style for summer and fall camp. Take em far away where they only have each other. Force the team to bond and become one.

Or we could fire him and hire a competent choice, your move UT AD
Just like that time Dooley took them on the road for camp. :)

Yep. You have to do some filtering when you listen to his show, but that isn't any different from any media source. It's far better than the endless pollyanna polished BS you get from state-run.

Most people's problem is that they either don't want to do the filtering, are bad at doing the filtering, or think they shouldn't have to do any filtering. As though somebody is going to give you the 100% perfect gospel every time.

Lol. We basically said the exact same thing.
