yes, he is totally fine. Not saying anything other than the reports/hype on him was that of a difference maker - a guy who could flat out score.

he has 4 points - that, for me, was below what i expected.

Not a big deal - i think he will be amazing. He has shown the flashes - thought he would be better quicker.

i guess, that's it, i thought he would be more polished and better more effective right out of the gates.

No one is lighting it up. JJJ averaged 7.4 points a game as a Freshman and that was 6th in scoring on the team. 4 pts isn't great but it's rust. I expected Keon to average about 10 points this year. We have a pretty balanced team this year.

IIRC, he was always more of an elite athlete with high motor and basketball IQ than he was an elite scorer. He has certainly excelled in those areas tonight and has made a big impact on the game on the defensive side. His scoring will catch up as he gets more comfortable.

I don’t think he said that. Pretty sure he had an image built up in his head what Keon should look like. It’s the first game. No cupcakes to work out the kinks.

Yes, if that is the case - his high motor has been on full display. That is awesome.

I’ll take that. No warm up game to work out the kinks and come out with a win even though they played pretty sloppy. Defense was on point though. They were smothering most of the game.

What was the risk in not extending him? Where was he going? By the end of last season he hadn't really accomplished anything that warranted a raise or extension.

It was an absolutely awful decision to do that before we got into the meat of the schedule. Wait for another month... what was the hurry?
