He does. Haslams are making a play to bind them together but I don’t buy it for an instant. They want him out and are trying to fool the fanbase into supporting their move while they will turn around and force us to hire whatever oddball coach Jimmy has fallen in love with. Fans need to keep calling bs and the other boosters need to stand up and make a real hire, specifically Freeze, happen. Haslam’s are going for a kill shot that can and should backfire bigly if the other boosters had any balls.
This is what I thought and was worried about. I’m thinking the Haslams are going to try and make a huge power-play in the coming weeks, promised that they have freeze locked up, get Fulmer and Pruitt out, and then put their puppets into place. They promised freeze, but I guarantee they don’t have him when the rubber meets the road. They will get their puppets in place and then hire Coach McGoogle or some other no name, and we will be stuck with the same crap show but with the Haslams back in power. Once again as in the past decade, we are at a major cross roads with this program. We really need to keep the Haslams out of power, but Fulmer continues to double down on Pruitt. If it doesn’t work, we probably can kiss Tennessee football bye for a very long time.

I don't get this eruption of vitriol. Nothing has changed this week. UT has been staying the course all along, with no intention of doing anything else. Opt-outs are negligible. The recruiting class is amazingly intact. The guys we need to stick are sticking. Most of our top recruits, including Salter, still plan on signing early. Brooks is still solid. Staying the course and focusing on playing and recruiting is exactly what stable, unemotional leadership should do right now.

Losing to Vandy would do more harm than good. And actually wanting to lose to Vandy and posting it on a message board that recruits read...
I agree, the outright cheering for a loss to Vandy is unfathomable to me. Especially because they think it might force a change when it doesn't look like proper ground work for a search has been laid, that's a recipe for a cluster.

I'm afraid most here are like me, they don't believe we are any closer than when Pruitt took over and now we are looking at another round of staff changes and another year with no continuity. We've seen this end badly before time and again, is what we expect to happen until it doesn't.

He acted like this to six-figure donors his first year here. He is what he's always been. All those things people hate about him now have always been there. He can't juggle the many demands of the HC job, he isn't a great face of the program, he doesn't like fundraising or community events, he isn't great at personnel management, he's terrible at PR, he desperately needs delegation skills and he would be well-served to surround himself with the best people he can get and trust them do their jobs. Yet the players like him. Really like him. And so do the recruits.

All of this is the same in year 3 as in year 1. People are just over-the-top now at what's been there all along. And the red flags were there before he was hired.
What are your thoughts on Bryan Harsin at Boise State as a potential replacement when Pruitt is eventually canned? Think he would leave the blue field for the orange and white checkerboard? He does have a previous relationship with Steve Caldwell.

Many of us said it when Fulmer took over and hired Pruitt--if he doesn't work out, it's likely game over for UT football. Because if Pruitt fails, Fulmer may also find himself on thin ice, and if HE'S out, then there's no one left who truly cares about winning. It will just be Haslam stooges hiring guys that Jimmy met at an NFL owners conference in 2014 and had a good conversation with.

What astounds me is that the boosters, power brokers and mouthpieces still think this is going to pass. They haven’t caught on to the fact that this isn’t Butch post UGA or Dooley post UK where only sizable minority but minority nonetheless is vocal and wants a change while the majority just shrugs and remains silent about it. This fanbase is seething and getting worse every time we hit refresh and see that Pruitt is still our coach. This isn’t a feeling that is going to be tamped down on by a win over Vandy. We are at the stage where the admin announces in days or maybe a week that the coach in question is gone. The point of no return has been long crossed with fans and they need to accept it because it is only going to get worse.

Fellas, anyone who thinks the Haslams are trying to force themselves back in are full of themselves. They never left. They are the most powerful people at UT. If Jim Haslam wants a coaching change, there will be a coaching change.

The Currie/Schiano debacle was a black eye for them. They want to put another stooge in the AD.

Coach O is still a crappy coach. I would be shocked if he is still at LSU in 3 years.

Maybe true but he figured out to get the hell out of the way of his coordinators and won a natty.

He’s won 9, 10 and 15 games as head coach while recruiting at an elite level.

Sure this year he’s 3-5 which equates to 7-5 in a Normal year.

We’d be complete ignorant not to want Pruitt or any other of our coaches to do just that

The Haslams and their allies certainly want control back, but I doubt Freeze is their guy. They tend to prefer people who come into the organization without much name recognition or reputation of their own, so they will be loyal to them and easily controlled.

So really that's on Fulmer and the powers to be. I know it was crazy at that time but it seems now it was a desperate hire by Fulmer. Fulmer has also got to be feeling the pressure right now cause all eyes are on him now..

It's quite possible Coach O is another Gene Chizik. Caught lightning in a bottle for one year, can't replicate it. I've always thought he was a buffoon.
He is exactly Gene Chizik. What he was at Ole Miss is what he really is. A loud mouth jackass who knows how to recruit. Nothing more.

Best not to galaxy brain whether you want your team to lose. I’m skeptical that one single game really ever dictates a move. If you root for Vandy to win and he’s not fired it’s just twice as bad.

I learned my lesson in the 2016 Vandy game. I wasn’t rooting for a loss per se, but when the game really started to go against us, my silver lining was that at least this will increase the chances we move on from Butch. Turns out, speculation was that if he had won, another school was interested enough to hire him.

At the end of the day, Pruitt is a Bammer. And that makes all of this 1000x’s worst. At least it does for me. It’s like that parable of the snake that asked the little boy for lift down the mountain. The little boy said no because he was afraid he’d bite him. The snake promised he wouldn’t and reluctantly, the boy carried him down the mountain. Once at the bottom at the moment he sat him down, the snake turned and bit him. In shock and panic the boy lashed out and swore at the snake! He said, “You promised you wouldn’t bite me if I took you to the bottom!” The snake grinned and replied, “you knew what I was when you picked me up.”
That’s Pruitt. No matter what, see down, he’s still a Bammer and that makes all of this that much worst.

GC never won more than 8 game outside of the lightning in a bottle year

EO has won 10 and 9 games outside of his 15-0 year. That’s more than lighting in a bottle

For everyone wanting vandy to win

Just a wild guess but it could be

44-21
34-7
48-17
24-13
30-17
31-19
A Vandy win would end this crap show

I think it was a black eye for UT. I think anyone sitting in that chair will be their stooge. If an AD is the cause of not receiving Haslam money anymore, they would be fired immediately.

I would love to have Will Healy........but I'm almost to the point of staying with CJP and allowing him to fight through the issues. Chaney is obviously not the OC everyone expected and CJP needs a DC as well. Let him figure it out. He can recruit, now find the coordinators that can do their jobs!
The jury is still out on the recruiting front. What once was a very promising class is now looking very problematic. We have whiffed on every big recruit since June, and we also have had several decommit. There will be more. Long losing streaks and a head coach on the scorching hot seat don't work well in recruiting.

If they keep Pruitt, 2021 will be the worst (non-pandemic) attendance percentage in UT history. I am not being hyperbolic or purposely dramatic by saying this fanbase is as checked-out as I've ever seen it. I'm in my late 20's and they're losing my generation. Very few younger than me care about the program at all. To them we're a basketball school.

Add in the fact COVID may still be lingering in 2021 (post-vaccine) resulting in the older folks being advised to stay home, and a putrid home schedule with no marquee non-conference game and Florida and Alabama on the road, and they are going to be hurt bad financially by letting Pruitt limp to the finish line.

If keeping Pruitt is about money, be careful what you wish for.
