We dominated every game in that win streak, but the little mistakes is what kept those games close. We threw for 400+ yards against Mizzu and only put up 24 points. We were in the backfield nearly every play against IU. For whatever reason, Pruitt can't get his team to execute for 60 minutes.
One consistent problem Pruitt has had since the day he got here is offense, especially QB play. Look at our point totals in the games we won last year. 45, 20, 41, 30, 17, 24, 28, 23. In those last 4 victories from last season, we were only scoring 23 PPG. That's just way too much pressure to put on a defense, especially in today's game.

I'm not defending JP. These issues shouldn't exist in year 3. I want him fired.
Just an observation that our DB's look terrible because QB's have 3-5 business days to make a throw against us. I don't think it's a coincidnce that Warrior, Thompson, and Sham all looked good last season when DT was willing his way to the QB every play. Our pass protection is ass because teams don't respect our QB's to make good decisions.

Why in the sam-hill F would I not expect my program to have an opportunity to rise to the top again? If you are okay with the state of the program, you may want to ease on down the road west and pull for candy with those expectations.

Wait wait wait.

First of all I damn sure ain’t ok with the state Of the program.

Second of all I am not saying the program can’t have the opportunity to rise to the top again

But what I am saying is this program FIRST has to be a 7-9 win program again for a period of time before it can rise to the elite level
Again.

It’s as if many here think we should just skip the 7-9 win years and Immediately head to Atlanta. You aren’t going to be able to skip those steps with the strength of Georgia, florida and Alabama.

Those 3 programs have never been collectively stronger and that’s bad news for our expeditions

Well then you may want to go back and maybe proof-read your posts before submitting because that's exactly how it reads/comes across...

think you may have missed my point. Gump can't win with talent and this guy can win with much lesser talent. So what could he probably do with higher-tier talent than he's used to coaching up and developing at Iowa St.? He'd probably be like a kid at Christmas...
I definitely think Campbell would be an upgrade, and likely do fairly well here. Like I said, there are reasons to think the recruiting would pick up if he was Tennessee's coach and not Iowa State's. The buyout is $6 million as I understand it, and that would be on top of the $15 million or whatever it is going to cost to buyout Pruitt and staff. That may be a good long term investment, but do we have the BMD's who are ready to pony up? I also think he isn't making a move until he sees what happens at Michigan, so you probably be hoping for them to upset tOSU this weekend so Harbaugh sticks around.

My post have simply said 8-4 shouldn’t be considered automatic.
Far from it when it’s only happened 2/14 years

I think the best time Pruitt fails to win 7 games he should be fired

Again, there isn’t even a flicker of competence with any side of the ball. Offense is a **** show and one of the worst in the country.

Defense is overall very bad and below average with a supposed “defensive guru”. Run defense is OK but pass defense is Sunseri-bad. And Pruitt is supposedly a DB guy (lol).

Special teams has not been good. Recruiting has not been where we need it to be and we have lost our top commitments in crucial areas with McGhee and Lewis

The Northwestern defense is carrying them. Against Iowa he was 11-18 for 130 yards and an int. They still won. He isn't losing games for them though.
I don't think he's the second coming of Joe Burrow but let's not act like he's a scrub either. People adjust the goal posts to fit a narrative instead of just looking at things for what they are. We had a great winning streak last year. We've sucked ass this year. That's all it is.

I don't think folks get how important and what a difference this makes... Opposing QB's just sit back in the pocket flat-footed like Brady and just pick an open WR to hit in stride. Our lack of pressure gives WR's time to run and develop their routes... the FL game was the best example... they didn't even need to run the ball. At one point Trask JOGGED out of the pocket, pointed at a WR, and then tossed it to him like backyard football...
Our D line look and act like the fat kids in pee-wee ball that try and look busy, dancing around moving their legs so mom and dad will give them ice cream after the game. Sorry but dems the facts.

We haven’t improved at any position other than maybe OL, and they are way underperforming in year 3

I think you would seriously struggle to find another O line in the country with the comparable talent we have on paper that are underperforming as bad as we are right now... really sad.

I’d like to find one that plays so many different players every single damn game

It’s travel baseball everybody plays BS

Yes, Dabo was on thin ice, but it is easier to get off of the hot seat when your team is at least decent. That's how Gus has spent his entire career off/on the hot seat - he feels pressure, and his team actually is good enough to pull off an upset. Dabo would have been s**t-canned if he followed up his 6-7 2010 season with another 6-6 the next year.

Pruitt's teams are so terrible that I'm not sure it's possible. I mean, he will get off the hot seat if he starts winning, but it is just so unlikely.
not really debating you on any of that.

point was only has a coach been on thin ice and changed the staff and it worked?

the answer is yes. Dabo is an example of that.

doesn't mean they're comparable situations.

now, if you're asking has a coach ever coached a program to it's worst season in history, gotten marginally better the next year, changed the entire staff and it work out....?

i might have to dig a little further for that answer.....lol.

Definitely didn’t see Ky coming, I’ll admit that. But I completely expected Ark by the time that game arrived. Actually, I’ve expected every game since. We are the most predictable team in the county save Vandy. And if they still had Mason in charge, I’d bet they’d play us extremely close.
Arkansas has actually been the worst program in the SEC for multiple years running. i put big capital W next to that game when the schedule came out.

we were all so excited to see that's who we were getting from the West and that it's finally not some juggernaut.....

the only gamesi had us losing was Bama, GA, FL, ?'s next to Auburn and aTm. at worst 5-5. at best, probably 7-5, 8-4 if we pull an upset.

2-8/2-7/3-7...nope. not on the radar.
