Mike Bobo might actually be a better option than Chaney...him and Friend have worked together well so he's likely more familiar with Friend's strengths as a OL guy and will tailor the offense to that.

I don't know man I feel like Chaney just wanted to come get paid this go round...or maybe I put too much of his success with Dooley on him and not Dooley (who later did similar things at Missouri).

Anybody saying "lose to Vandy and he's done" better have Randy Boyd as an inside source. People who're "hearing things" like that are either speculating or talking to people who're speculating. Randy Boyd's not talking. Phillip's keeping a low-profile. And a game that's likely to be cancelled at a moment's notice is hardly the yardstick.
So, here's a thing I've wondered, and I'm not sure I can describe it clearly, but I'll try.

We've heard a Vandy loss is a line in the sand - but what I can't suss out is if that's simply because Pruitt needs ANY win to prove there's still life in the program. Or, is it just a little brother thing? You can't lose to Vandy in Year 3 and get away with it.

I guess what I'm getting at: if the Vandy game is cancelled, and there's no likely win on the table anymore, does that guarantee Pruitt can't disappoint enough to be fired? Or does it take a win that would have saved him off the table?

One thing on Matt Campbell (beyond what is supposedly an enormous buyout) that gives me pause is that he has never had a recruiting class ranked higher than #46, and is currently sitting at #51 for 2021. I know that's at Iowa State, and Tennessee recruits itself, winning and players in the NFL speak for themselves, etc., but just worth noting that he is at best unproven in that area. Coming into the shark-infested recruiting waters in which Tennessee swims, that is a concern.

I think though, to put it into perspective--- is that right now a Matt Campbell Iowa State would whip the 'ish out of us... so his #46 players (clearly developed) and staff are better than our #10-15 players and P5 staff.

So you’re saying he does more with less

Yeah, Mizzou had a top 20 offense in Dooley's 1st year as OC. Maybe Chaney got too much credit for the offense in Dooley's last year and Dooley not enough.

will never question his toughness or want to. he just didnt perform when the lights were on.

Yeah that's the thing, we've cussed this kid's performance on and off for four years, but I don't think anyone questioned the kid's heart and moxy... he gave it everything he had, he just had no business being at UT...

If 2-8 doesn't fire Pruitt, we may as well cancel the program.

I don’t think CJC just wanted to get paid. I’m pretty sure that I’ve heard he loves East Tennessee and that he has a daughter who goes here .
