Let me ask you this...do you really think that any NFL team in the process of hiring a coach has thought "You know, I actually think this black guy is the best person for the job, but we don't like black people, so we're gonna hire this white guy who isn't as qualified?" Because if you think racism exists today in NFL hiring decisions, that's essentially what you think is taking place.
I think that there are still owners who will not seriously consider people of color based solely on their preconceived notions.

So you don't actually think there's racism in hiring then. Hiring someone you know or being enamored with the hot new thing isn't racist. The social circle of most people is mostly made up of people from the same demographic background as them, and there isn't anything racist about it.

And of course no owner would actually say what I said in my previous post, even if that is what the genuinely thought. My point is is that if you think there's racism in hiring, then essentially that logic must be used by owners at some point in the process. Racism in the hiring process would mean that these owners aren't hiring potential coaches purely because they are black.
Racism isn’t always a cartoon. Sometimes it’s just subtly influencing. “I’ll give him a chance...next time.” And that stretches out a decade. It’s not about screaming at someone for using the same water fountain.

If I’m Pruitt, on the first play I’m blitzing ~checks depth chart~ Aaron Beasley and Tamarion McDonald and telling one to go high and one to go low. Hit him late and hit him hard.

😐
This I wouldn't mind seeing. Maybe not T Mac because he should be playing over Tank, but ya know how our coaches are. But id like to see Pruitt juiced and try and send a message to the team. Momentum and Adrenaline can be a good thing.

Quick question...does gump Pruitt still get a bonus of 200k this year if he take a 2-8/3-7 team to a bowl game?
Yes. It's a nice incentive for him to accept a bowl bid. Then he gets another 200k in Feb as a "retention bonus".

There are few other professions in the world so screwed up when it comes to compensation.

As a white coach, the implication that I can't impact Black athletes is ridiculous and evidence strongly indicates otherwise. We don't coach black players or white players, we coach kids.
And if you applied for a position and were the best candidate, but they went somewhere different? How about if you were black and the same thing happened?

Gee, if it were 1952, that might be a problem, but since college coaches are already at population representation I'd say we're past that point. The point remains. Free markets are Darwinian. When there is an advantage, it will eventually win. If there is no advantage, then population representation is about right.
Nooo...it’s now. Everything’s fine. Did Jimmy The Greek ever do a Darwinian spin on coaching?

Florida lost another player from the ‘18 class to the transfer portal. This time former 4 star RB Iverson Clemente.

That makes 15 Kids from the ‘18-20 classes that have either transferred or JUCO’d out.

I think they’re being anchored by insanely elite QB play this year but that their depth will be tested immensely next season.

Also, can we talk about their numbers? Signed 24 kids last year and took in SEVEN transfers. Currently have 26 kids committed this cycle and is taking transfer RB Demarcus Bowmen.

Wtf gives??

In a perfect world, that would work...however many people that hire, hire people that looks like them...some NFL owner said that. A lot of times it’s not intentional...it’s a bias not realized
So then we need more black NFL owners. Time to start making these old white guys sell their teams in the name of diversity. Let's start with Jerry Jones.

Well Donald Sterling was forced to sell the Clippers.

UF defense is pretty pedestrian. If they lost Trask to injury, or rapid onset acute Megonian Face Herpes, we might stand a chance.
Made me think of this.

Racism exists, but free markets are inherently Darwinian.
Markets may be Darwinian, but research has proven many times over hiring managers are vulnerable to subconscious biases/discrimination. There's no perfect answer here, other than everyone understanding sub/unconscious biases exist in all of us and being cognizant of them. Cognizance is the best defense against bias.

How about if you were the best candidate and they hired someone black because diversity. It cuts both ways. One of the main reasons racism continues is people just won't let it die. Between actual racists and people who need to be able to scream "racism" as an excuse, society won't let it go the way of the dinosaurs. Attitudes need to change, but people of all colors need to be willing to bend. We're all human, and that's all that really matters.

In High School football, especially in Georgia where I spent most of my career, it happens all the time. Principals or Supt. pass over someone more qualified on a regular bases in favor of former colleagues or someone they know. Coaches of lesser ability who are great self promoters get hired and people shake their head . I'm not black, and I completely understand the thought that someone was passed over because of their race. I also know that it still happens, though not nearly as much as it once did. Anyone who hires someone or doesn't hire someone based on their race should be run out of the business. That being said, the implication that a white coach can't impact the lives of black athletes (which was my original point) is insulting and ludicrous and I could provide names of several hundred kids that would back that up.
