Coaching prediction thread

So you’re saying we might get to throw more money at dumpster fire? Oh yay!

I feel it’s likely we keep Pruitt and if we keep Pruitt bc we’re too broke to get rid of him then why the hell wouldn’t we keep Chaney as well? Hell I would feel better about our chances to win with Chaney instead of Pruitt at the head coach position.

Best option is to fire Pruitt's and make Chaney intermin headcoach for a year.

Not a great option but the best.

Here's what I think the fall out will be after this season.

Pruitt’s going to have to change up the offensive staff. But, who? Chaney is set to make 1.7 million dollars next year. For everyone who says Tennessee is cheap, he was (and may still be) the highest paid offensive coordinator in all of college football. They even paid Georgia $500,000 to get him. So, you fire him, there will be a buyout and then you have to get someone to be the offensive coordinator who can do the math that he’ll be out of a job in a year as well. Good luck finding someone who is anxious to sign up for that. Friend? And I know he’s a disappointment to many, but if I am being honest the offensive line may not be the TVA you all were hoping for, but they’re the best unit on the entire football team and I don’t think that’s even up for debate. If I were him and got canned, I would be livid. Between that and the personal relationship with Pruitt, I don’t think he goes anywhere either. Graham, Martin? Two VFL. My guess is that they are two of the better recruiters on the staff. I can't see any of these other jokers being able to go into a home and sell a recruit on the program, do you? So, that leaves Weinke. Goodbye, Chris. But, that’s really not going to be enough to make any real change. They’ll get rid of Joel Osovet, too.

A little side note. Chaney has been an offensive coordinator for 12 years, 11 in the SEC. The number of years his offenses ranked in the top half, again TOP HALF, of the league…..3 (2012, Tennessee. 2017, Georgia, 2018 Georgia). Eight out of his twelve years as a coordinator, his offenses have averaged under 400 yards per game. O-ver-rated….clap, clap….clap, clap, clap. O-ver-rated….clap, clap….clap, clap, clap. O-ver-rated…..clap, clap….clap, clap, clap.

Change the defensive staff? Who goes? Who do you get? How much cash to get them? After all, how confident are incoming assistants going to be about having a job beyond one season. Besides, there isn’t really anyone to fire here. They already got rid of Brumbaugh and currently only have 3 assistant coaches on defense. Ansley, Felton, and Neidermeyer.

All of these things make it obvious to me that Jeremy Pruitt should go, because all anyone will be doing is re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, but……

Jeremy Pruitt will be the head football coach at the University of Tennessee next year. And next season will be his last season. Hopefully, for Tennessee the crop of coaching candidates will be a good one next year.
Fire UF fans posting what they think on this board. Why do you all placate this guy?

Why do you care so much about our team and who we hire? You really are a closet fan. Just admit it bro.

-Fire Weinke
-Hire a DL Coach
-Take passing coordinator away from Tee so he’s assistant head coach and wide receivers
-Hire a qb coach that’s the next joe brady and give him co-assistant head coach title like Tee was given to validate paying him more.... Peyton? Jk one can dream ... at the very least, see if you can get Harrison Bailey working with Ron veal in Atlanta in the off-season

All due respect to 99...predictions are funny things around here. We’ll dispatch a coach in favor of a known cheater up in here, it has to be hilarious to the outside world.

If I was gonna predict, I would say Pruitt and Chaney keep their jobs, possibly a change or two of low level staff.

We need a football coach. Ya know, not a flavor of the month hire and not a guy that’s gonna bring the NCAA to the door. Definitely not the latter.

We need a QB. Let’s see what happens this weekend.

I predict that, barring some unforeseeable calamity, Pruitt will continue to coach the Vols, that Tennessee’s staff will be largely unchanged, and that Freeze or whoever you’re drooling over will be coaching elsewhere in 2021.

If I'm Pruitt and I keep my job after this season, here are the staff changes I make:
Fire Friend
Demote Osovet to an off the field position
Move Neidermeyer back to TE's coach
Fire Weinke

I've been critical of Chaney at times, but I don't think it would be wise to fire him.

and your replacements would be????

I usually like your posts. However I don't like this one, BUT do agree.

Prediction:
Pruitt: Back
Chaney: Back
Ansley: Back
Weinke: Gone
Friend: Gone
Graham: Back
Martin: Back
Osovet: this one is really close but I'll say back (as he is getting more talent coming in w/ freshman class and Pope)
DL: will obviously hire someone new
Felton: Back
Niedermeyer: Back

Reality is, we get a decent QB and much will look different. Even Butch didnt suck so much because he had fleet of feet Dobbs. HB begins to reach his potential and next year would look very different and everyone saying how genius the coaches are. JG = trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

I want Hugh Freeze. Make no mistake about it. But for the sake of discussion let's say we can't/won't get him. At that point I think the next best thing to do would be to keep Pruitt and replace Jim Chaney with one of the following:

Kendal Briles
Tom Herman (hot seat)
Kevin Sumlin (hot seat)
Scott Frost (hot seat)
Justin Fuente (hot seat)
Jeff Brohm (hot seat)

If we fire Pruitt, and don't get Hugh Freeze, who are we going to end up with? Probably another up and comer. No thanks. I say avoid the buyout and prepare to make the next HC hire the right hire... meanwhile, continue giving Pruitt everything he needs to be successful. That will go a long way toward convincing the right guy to say "yes".

Without Dobbs, Butch was revealed - a record 0 & 8 in the SEC.
