Probably because that program is historically terrible. They were great in the 1930's with Slinging Sammy Baugh and Davey O'Brien, and then 60 years of nothing with the bright spots of Bob Lilly and Ladanian Tomlinson until Patterson came along. It's a smaller private school, and a bunch of their student population come from California, the tailgates are more important to them than the games or their outcomes.
Very true, although expectations are a funny thing and can change fast. Once you give people a taste of winning, even if they haven't won much historically and haven't expected much, they get intoxicated and want more. Didn't know they had a large CA student population; that's interesting.

I like Patterson, but I'm kind of surprised TCU people remain so enamored with him. I know they aren't a juggernaut, but he's only had 3 good seasons out of 9 as a member of the Big 12.

I get that he's the reason they are even in the Big 12 to begin with; I just figured the sheen would have come off of him more than it has.
Gotta remember the state of the program before Franchione arrived...the old oil dummies do. Patterson built on that and they’re happy and tell everybody else they’re happy too!

I don't see any way that the intern wins 7-9 without Dobbs at QB. There's a reason why he's still an intern at bama guys, and it isn't just because he wants to collect a check from us. He's a horrible HC and everyone knows it.

I am the absolute least likely of guys to celebrate Butch's ability, but he's got far more winning seasons than losing. I'm sure he could get a job if he wanted it. Saban wouldn't be keeping him on the sideline if he didn't add some value.

Honestly I've always felt like Crouch should be OLB if he's insistent on playing defense. He's got the size to be a very good edge guy who occasionally covers a TE or RB for short route assignments.

Also are Eason/French in the doghouse or just not ready? Both seem to have better size for OLB than Banks and Crouch.

I personally think at this point Crouch should just move back to RB and see where it takes him. He's not getting drafted as a LB, and he could maybe turn some heads with a few yrs of power running that may turn into a Jakob Johnson like opportunity... Lord knows we need a RB that won't go down with a shoe-string tackle... He knows enough now at LB that he could fill in/help out, but if he wants to get paid for a few years, he may want to grind it out at RB....

I totally agree with you, but what is scary-- is that at least the intern would not hesitate to put the best talent on the field, which is pathetically more than what our current HC seems to want to do and is now pretty much screwed all around... he was also "all in" with the program and not just going through the motions waiting to get fired for his buyout.

Not playing Vandy is terrible for JP in my opinion. Finishing year with 7 straight pummelings can’t be sold for any excitement
The ups and downs of a Vol fan, finish with 8 straight wins in a year that we expect to be average...
Finish with 7 straight losses the following year with expectations to be much better than the previous year! FML

Has anyone confirmed which QB is in contact tracing? My gosh I hope it is JG so we can finally move on from him. I think UF will be our last game.

You sure about that? He stuck with Worley for nearly 2 years before letting Dobbs put the team on his back. He started Hurd over Kamara until Hurd basically quit on the job. Never let Preston Williams play choosing to start Croom and Josh Smith over him...

This is pathetic today, but of the post-Kiffin coaches that we've hired, Pruitt is absolutely the most capable football guy. It's a low bar, but Pruitt is absolutely the best football guy.

After he was fired, Dooley coached WRs in Dallas for 5 years, then was OC at Mizzou for 2 years on a truly awful staff, now is a "senior offensive assistant" with the NY Giants. Butch has been an intern in Tuscaloosa for 3 years since his firing. Pruitt, once he's fired, will slide right back into DC at Alabama or some other elite program. He'll easily have the best job out of the 3 once he's gone.

Both Crouch and Banks should move back to RB. They both play out of position and are lost in coverage most of the time. I figured it would have been easier to teach Banks to hold on to the ball, than learn an entire new position on the opposite side of the field.

And the only one who we remove mitigation from his contract too...

They're both pass rush OLB/DEs. Too bad we don't have the talent around them to play to their strengths.

Like that more guys coming out saying their signing early
Maybe this class will truly bond and stick together no matter how bad people try and burn us down
We're 14th in the country right now and we're going to lose three or four more, at minimum.

It's not good enough.
