Yes medical retirement if i’m correct
Yeah I read that much. Sounds like she stayed at MSST to just finish her degree. Kind of a bummer, she had a ton of potential. She was on the All-SEC Freshman team and was a big surprise.
Was wondering if she might decide to use the rest of her eligibility elsewhere if she gets to feeling better. Kinda like Porter at Missouri who retired and then returned.
Ole Miss played well in their debut. Coach Yo has added some really great players to her roster in the off season. They are not going to be walk over opponent. I think they still finish in the bottom half of the SEC, but if teams don’t show up for them they’ll shock some people.
McNeese was really small and really, really bad but they torched them 99-44. Defense looks completely different. They were tied on the boards at the half but ended up out rebounding them by 10. An area they’ll need to improve.
You figured Madison Scott and Shakira Austin would be big factors, and neither of them disappointed (although Shakira could have shot better and turned the ball over less). But the other freshman forward Collins had quite a game: 23 pts, shooting 5-8 from deep. If she can be a legit scoring threat against better competition, they will be a much, much tougher team compared to last year.
Totally random -- and days late! -- observation about UGA this year: redshirt senior center Jenna Staiti is going to have a great season. In their game against Ga. Tech on Saturday I thought she looked really strong and smart. She has come a long way since she first got to Athens, and our posts will definitely have to bring it against her. I was really happy for her and now think she has a good chance of being drafted.
Yes she looked good. She started to come on like that about halfway through the SEC season last year. She could average a double double pretty easily. Really UGA needs her to put up those kind of numbers. They’re short on rebounders this season.
For UGA to stay competitive in the SEC this season their guards are going to have to magically become much more consistent. Connally, Morrison and Caldwell are all capable of great play but don’t seem to work well together. One of the 3 will have a good night and the other two will stink it up. Was that way all last season as well. I’m not sure who is working with the guards at UGA but I think Joni could use a change. Those three are super talented but they are no more consistent as seniors than they were as freshman. Reminds a lot of our Holly era teams.
I noticed that. I also noticed she has 3 fouls in the first half, so I'm guessing she's still trying to get her game legs back. She's probably the best defensive player in the game right now, so now way S. Florida should be tagging her with 3 fouls so early.Just an FYI. Baylor’s De Richards is back from that scary injury and playing for Baylor.

Gabby looked much better in the first game. A lot of hype seemed to be around her eclipsing 1000 points, but she had a lot of looks that she normally hits. UGA will be fine and just need to settle down, because we missed tons of easy layups. Coombs will continue to make an impact for us, along with Morrison (if she can stay healthy). Morrison has been injured every summer except her initial summer as a freshman. This is one of the most talented squads Joni has had since she has been in Athens. Javyn looked great in the game against Mercer, but forced some shots that were not in the flow of the offense against Tech. Bates has improved over the summer as well. Georgia’s speed and depth is gonna wear down teams that do not have a deep bench. We are so much better in transition and if the three ball starts to fall for Barker and Connally we will be that much better.I watched that game and starting point guard Gabby Connally missed every big shot she took. I felt sorry for her. If she doesn’t clean it up I think they’ll have a tough year.
