Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

No statistic is perfect, obviously. But I’ve liked watching the website rtlive.com. It’s a real time R(0) calculation by state. Meaning, how many positive cases are infecting a new person. 0 is obviously desirable. <0 means the virus is less virulent. Especially in light of the recent spike in cases, it’s interesting to compare the values from now to two months ago. More states are actually having less spread than 2 months ago despite the increased testing and cases.

Two months ago:

Those charts show North Dakota as the best state yet the media headlines tell us just the opposite

The North Dakota Department of Health confirmed 409 new cases and 27 additional deaths in the state on Monday, bringing the total death toll to 954 out of a population of roughly 762,000, or 0.97 in every 800 residents.

Only two weeks ago—reporting the highest Covid-19 mortality rate in the world the week prior—North Dakota surpassed 769 deaths, joining a list now encompassing eight other states (New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Louisiana, Rhode Island, Mississippi and South Dakota) that have seen at least one Covid-19 death per every 1,000 residents.

1 In Every 800 North Dakota Residents Now Dead From Covid

How can the virus be minimally virulent yet have the highest mortality rate?

Pennsylvania officials are tightening mask requirements in the Keystone State, requiring masks in instances where individuals who are not members of the same household are “present in the same space” indoors, including private residences.

Well this is sort of interesting.
Cause Cases Deaths Due to COVID-19
Official number of individuals who died from COVID-19 as stated on the official death record. There will be a delay - by state law, a death record must be filed within 10 days of the date of death. 732
Deaths Where COVID-19 is Not the Primary Cause
Deaths that list something other than COVID-19 as the official cause of death. 132
Pending Death Records
The number of deaths where an official death record has not been filed. Per state law, this can take up to 10 days from the date of death. 90
Total number of individuals who tested positive and died from any cause while infected with COVID-19. 954

So of the 954 reported 14% didn't die of Covid, they just had it. Another 9% are pending one of these two categories presumably.

Medical types in here, how do these PCR tests work. I know they multiply the virus a certain number of times. But is it purely targeted at Covid? Or would it also multiply any disease we have?

Reason I am asking is I know we are all carriers of a bunch of stuff. And I am wondering if there is an accurate way to tell what we are "most" infected with.

For instance the Covid count is 400 but flu count is 1000, rhino virus 800 etc etc.

Would these tests do that?
See my Oct 30th post on page 3000 as to how the corona pcr works. As for other things we are infected with you can have blood drawn for specific testing like cmv and it'll come back with a ratio usually showing results is negative, weak positive or positive.
