It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if Pruitt is purposely trying to get fired

Cornbread is a Gump
He knows he has DC job anyway
He knows it’s not going to work
Why even try?
That's the problem with these contracts generally speaking.

Take Jimbo Fisher's deal. He's getting paid $75m guaranteed. The only way he doesn't get the full value of the deal is if they are able to fire him for cause - some scandal, NCAA rulebreaking, etc, or he quits. He cannot do anything job performance-wise to miss out on the full value of that deal. It's absolutely insane. If they end up being absolutely terrible, it's just a blow to his ego, not his wallet. There are no negative financial repercussions whatsoever. In a position of that level of responsibility, that is asinine.

These college coaches are competitive and have massive egos, so I'm sure they want to win, but you still think that on some level having that amount of guaranteed money has to dampen the competitive juices a little bit, no? And if you're the school, do you want to do anything that potentially reduces the competitiveness of your head coach? I get that schools are desperate for good coaches, but my goodness, most of these contracts are stupidly one-sided.

I don't think UT plays again after this weekend

Me either. We done.

Vandy game is all but canceled at this point, they won’t have enough warm bodies, females included.

But hey, as long at UGA, Bama, and FLA get to extend streaks against even further that’s all that matters.

It’s been alluded to that our O is difficult to learn. I believe it’s a pretty complex system. And that’s magnified for QB’s bc we ask them to do so much.

I agree - we should dumb it down and put the best players on the field.
Yeah I agree. I don’t blame our players as I’m sure the coaches are asking too much. Dumb it down and allow our best athletes to play.

Pruitt so far:
Recruiting: Average to below average
Development: Horrible (where are his players?)
Coaching: Horrendous (Always not prepared)
Team management: Horrendous (JG)
Staff leadership: Horrendous (Brum mid season)

Why are we keeping him again?

I stand by this point
We stand to lose way more money long term by keeping him

Freeze sells out the season tix year one
Year 2 we are beating 1 of the big 3
Year 3 we are competing for the east

Yeah, Florida will be it and then will have to sit around and listen to Fulmer propaganda about how Pruitt is working like heck to right the ship and then they'll try to spin/ celebrate the number 22 recruiting class in the country blah blah blah

The only reason to keep him is that it doesn't make financial sense to keep him. You'd have people who would take issue with your stance that we stand to lose more money keeping him than firing him. I'm not saying that I'd necessarily take issue with that stance, but there are definitely people who would. And my sense is that most people in the athletic department would. They think it's more expensive to fire him.

I like Air Raid who runs. Leaches offense would be 10x more lethal if he'd call an inside zone every once in a while

That's what's killing me when I watch him here at MSU. Ol' dude is facing three man fronts regularly, and had the SEC's leading rusher. For an "offensive genius" he seemed perfectly content letting Costello rip it into a defense dropping 8.

I’m betting we could do the math and show that we would come out better with him gone. Fan apathy is at an all time high right now. UT is going to lose money on top of the covid hit next year. We need a stimulus package for this program right now, if you know what I mean. Consumer spending is about to tank

Do you think we would fire Pruitt after this season if our in-state talent for 2022 was subpar? It seems like the focus has really been on 2022 and the AD believes that we can’t risk falling behind with a new coach. Would Pruitt even do better than a new coach?

I watched a lot of the Clemson Pitt game last weekend because the Iron Bowl was terrible. The Clemson offense is so fun to watch (Lawrence had over 400 yards and played just 3 qtrs). It is very creative even with some of their basic running plays. I wish we were fun to watch.
