If we were to move on from Pruitt this weekend would be our last chance, because ESD is Dec 16, so it would give us the bare minimum amount of time to find/hire a coach and try to rebuild the recruiting class. Not to mention it is Liberty’s last reg season game

Imagine being worse than Dooley after 3 years and getting to keep your job.
I never would have thought that we would be here with Pruitt. Nothing I'm seeing makes any sense whatsoever. Again, even if he turned out to be a bad head coach, I expected to at least see development and a tough defense. We don't even have that. We are horrible everywhere.

If we go 0-3 Pruitt will not be the coach here next year. 1-2 is 50/50. Stop listening to people say “admins don’t want a coaching change or go through a search”. No one ever wants one or wants to fire anyone, especially someone they personally hired. That and can’t afford it is all crowd control.
Ding ding ding.

Phil didn’t get run off, ran himself off.
he made his assistant hires.
He fell behind the times.
He held on to Chavis antiquated schemes.
His recruiting slipped.

Folks - pay attention to this. This is 100% factually correct. Maybe some of you enjoyed losing games because Chavis was convinced his gawd awful Mustang Package was aces. Clawfence happens, third rate assistants happened, lower rated classes happened. Once Phil started playing big dog nationally in the early 2000's with the media and coaching association, it began trending down. Phil did Phil in and plenty of time to turn it around. So maybe a good hard look at what Phil is doing now might be appropriate.

Spoiler alert: We’re not moving on from Pruitt in 2020.

It's going to take more time for Freeze to recruit. Some recruits it may not make a difference, but many parents aren't going to direct their kids to a head coach who used a university cell phone to communicate with call girls.

Speak for yourself.there’s a reason why the parents and players are separated for the night when they visit campus.do you honestly think the parents get invited to the log cabin👀😅🥴

Don't be surprised when Pruitt plays JG while ruled ineligible bc of contact tracing. Those two lovebirds have something special for each other
And besides, it’s already been explained that some of the ones that are in protocol are likely to be cleared on Saturday anyway so that’s just a pipe dream

Pruitt was more well-known than the other two. Pretty much everyone on here knew who Jeremy Pruitt was.

But I have said for a while now that you guys will be disappointed again if we have to hire a new coach. It's not just about the University of Tennessee- the coaching landscape altogether has changed. Everyone has money. Coaches don't always jump to another gig.

It took Florida 3 hires to get it correct after Meyer. All 3 either had no prior HC experience or McElwain came from Colorado State. Heck, even Urban Meyer came from Utah- no prior P5 (at the time) HC experience. UGA hired Smart, OU promoted Riley, OSU promoted Day, Miami hired Diaz, and USC promoted Helton- none had prior HC experience. Texas hired Herman and LSU hired Orgeron- one only had P5 experience and the other was a failure at a P5 school.

It's just not that easy to hire a "proven" HC unless you are like A&M and give someone $75 million. You might get lucky, and maybe that is Freeze but maybe not. It's not about being proven, but it's simply about hiring the right guy.

I would argue that this is why you make the move now. Freeze is available and has a track record of winning everywhere and has also had success in the SEC. Who knows when you will get another opportunity like this. In 2013 it was Jones after missing on Strong and we all remember last coaching search after Mullen went to UF.

Gotcha. However, doesn’t it look like Fulmer is penny pinching by not firing the Gump?
Sort of dug our own grave.

I remember when we shelled out an absurd amount for basically a 1st time playcalling OC in Helton...made Friend a highly paid OLC, then shelled out huge for Ansley, Chaney, Tee, etc. It was like every hire was a bankbuster and paying at a premium. On top of it all, we extend Pruitt before the season.

I said then we are either going broke for a championship or drying up the accounts for years to come. Sadly, it now appears to be the latter.
