I think Blake Anderson is due for a job upgrade. Guy had rough personal life issues but he’s rebounded somewhat nicely. I’ve been amazed he has stayed here this long.

Since Vandy is a private school, his contract info is private. I do remember a Tennessean article that listed his salary at around $3.5 million with three years remaining. It looks like they will have to pay a significant buyout. This firing should get the attention of our AD and our head coach!

I know they have low expectations, but how they attract a coach with any pedigree is beyond me. At an institutional level, they don't even try and they play in the SEC.

Mason and Franklin were very good hires for them resume-wise; Franklin had been a P5 OC and Mason a P5 DC who was the DC for some really good David Shaw Stanford teams.

Franklin and Gerry DiNardo are the only guys who have ever been able to use it in any kind of stepping stone fashion, although Franklin is the only guy to use it as a stepping stone who was actually good at Vandy. DiNardo was terrible, yet LSU hired him anyway. And LSU was nowhere near the job in 1995 that it is today.

Mustardchimp would be a better fit at Vanderbilt, he doesn't need the cash, he is familiar with the recruiting honey holes in South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Texas, no pressure to win, just be competitive in the division go .500 in the conference and the black and gold is fine

I don’t see Muschamp going to Vandy right after USC. Muschamp just needs to go be DC for a bit and learn again. He always seemed like a great OC away from actually being a sustainable head coach

Mason was paid $2.8m in 2016 according to the most recent publicly-available Form 990. He got a raise and extension last year, so his current salary being around $3.5m sounds about right.

But what makes you think that he’d be able to be .500 in the conference at Vandy? He failed at a top tier P5 job. Then he failed at a mid tier P5 job. So all of a sudden he’s going to be successful at a low tier P5 job? If you struggle to get to 6 wins at SCar then you’re not going to be successful at Vandy.

Yup. This would be the job that ends his head coaching career if he took it. Go be a DC again and try to get another HC job in 2-3 years.

I think Muschamp's HC days are over, at least at the P5 level. He can probably make more money being DC at a good P5 school than he could as an HC at a G5 job. He's more than proven that he is incapable of developing the offensive side of the ball, and towards the end at South Carolina even his defenses were getting torn up.

I definitely think that is case in SEC. doubt he ever gets a 3rd SEc gig. But he would be good replacement for a few schools at DC. LSU is one with Pelini. Same for MSU, UF.... could easily join up with Kirby or Pruitt or he’ll, even Kiffin

If Saban fires Golding, which is a possibility, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Muschamp end up at Bama.

Yeah. Willy has plenty of options. He’s basically gonna be getting paid as a head coach to be a coordinator.

Nashville is dying to have a good college team in the area.

Vandy could really hit the lottery fast if they could put a winning product on the field.

The stadium is a great location and just needs to be bigger but Nashville would embrace Vandy.

The city has a ton of Yankees now who would where the Vsndy sweatshirts because its considered borderline Ivy league school.

Doesn’t really have to pay him anything. Muschamp’s contract didn’t include offset language, so he gets the entire buyout regardless of the salary at his next job. Now given his track record as a DC, he’ll probably command 1.5 million or more. Which means he’ll really be raking in the cash.
